New Electric Ferry Service Launching in Halifax

A new environmentally friendly electric ferry service is planned to launch in Halifax, Canada.The province of Nova Scotia, along with the federal government and Halifax Regional Municipality, announced on March 4 a joint investment to build the Mill Cove Ferry Service, which will include five fully electric ferries, two terminals and a maintenance facility. 2023 Coast Guard Engineer of the Year Named

Lt. Lena “Lexie” Royster, a mechanical engineer in the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Center, in Washington, has been selected as the 2023 Coast Guard Engineer of the Year.The Coast Guard Engineer of the Year Award recognizes Coast Guard active duty and civilian engineers for their accomplishments and achievements. The award’s selection panel considers many factors including engineering accomplishments, awards, honors and educational achievements.“I am extremely thankful for the opportunities the Coast Guard has given me,” said Royster.

New Lifeboat Enters Service for the Canadian Coast Guard

The Canadian Coast Guard on Wednesday welcomed the CCGS Chedabucto Bay into its fleet at the Lifeboat Station in Clarks Harbour, Nova Scotia.The Bay Class vessel, built by Chantier Naval Forillon in Gaspé, Quebec and delivered earlier this year, is the 14th of 20 new search and rescue lifeboats that will be dedicated into service by the Canadian Coast Guard across the country.The shore-stationed self-righting lifeboats are specifically designed, equipped and crewed to respond to search and rescue incidents at sea.

US Says Iran Responsible for Drone Attack on Tanker

An attack on a tanker off the coast of Oman on Tuesday was carried out by an Iranian-made drone, U.S. Central Command said in a statement, adding that a multilateral maritime operation led by a British Royal Navy frigate had responded to the area.An Israeli official had blamed Iran for the strike on the Pacific Zircon tanker managed by Israeli-controlled Eastern Pacific Shipping. The company said there was minor damage to the hull but no injuries or spillage of the gas oil cargo.A White House official earlier said the United States was "confident that Iran likely conducted" the hit using an unmanned aerial vehicle. Iran's Nournews, which is affiliated with the country's top security body, blamed Israel for the attack.U.S.

Dynagas Vessel Employment Almost Full

Egypt Reopens 5 Ports, 2 Remain Closed Due Weather

Egyptian authorities reopened five ports on the Red Sea on Monday, a day after they were closed due to bad weather conditions, the Red Sea Ports Authority said.The two major ports of Alexandria and Dekheila on the Mediterranean Sea remained closed, said Reda al-Ghandour, spokesman for the Alexandria Port Authority."Strong winds and high waves do not allow the safe passage of speedboats and the ascent and descent of the guide onto ships," Ghandour said on Sunday, adding it affected the arrival and departure of ships in the two ports.By Lena Masri

DynaGas LNG Partners in the Red in Q3

Monaco-based owner and operator of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, reported a third-quarter ended September 30, 2018 loss of $654,000, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.The gas shipping company said that the Q3 results included $2.3 million of scheduled class survey and dry-docking costs related to the Yenisei River, one of the three tri-fuel diesel engine (TFDE) vessels in our fleet.The company said it had a loss of 7 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 4 cents per share. Dynagas LNG Partners Gets Extension of Yamal LNG TC

Dynagas LNG Partners has entered into an agreement with Yamal Trade for the early commencement of the long term charter contract for employment of the ice class liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Yenisei River in the Yamal LNG Project. The owner and operator of LNG carriers said that pursuant to this agreement, the Yenisei River will commence operating 180 days earlier and as a result, the firm charter period has been extended from 15 years to 15 years plus 180 days. Dynagas LNG Posts Q2 Loss

Greece-based Dynagas LNG Partners has reported a second-quarter loss of USD 5.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same quarter a year before. "We are satisfied that the class surveys, including dry dockings, were completed in a quick and efficient manner with an average of approximately 15 days per vessel from arrival to departure at the shipyard. The vessels are on a 5-year special survey cycle, therefore we expect the next special class survey and related dry docking to occur in about 5 years," he added. Barcelona Welcomes AIDAperla

AIDAperla - the youngest member of the AIDA Cruises fleet - reached the port of Barcelona via the western Mediterranean on June 7, 2017, as part of its "Welcome Cruises". During AIDAperla’s maiden season, Barcelona is, alongside Palma de Mallorca, one of the start and end ports for her seven-day cruises in the western Mediterranean. The Rostock cruise company’s latest ship will be christened on June 30, 2017 in Palma de Mallorca by model and presenter, Lena Gercke. The christening ceremony will be streamed live on the Internet, the AIDA social media channels and on board all AIDA ships.

AIDAperla Delivered to AIDA Cruises

AIDA Cruises has taken delivery of the 12th vessel of its fleet, AIDAperla, from Japanese shipbuilder Mitshubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). The vessel was commissioned April 27 at a ceremony in Nagasaki, Japan in the presence of Michael Thamm, CEO Costa Group; Felix Eichhorn, President AIDA Cruises; Shunichi Miyanaga, President and CEO MHI; and Kazuaki Kimura, President and CEO, Industry & Infrastructure MHI. In the coming days AIDAperla will set sail for the Mediterranean where the vessel will be christened by model and presenter Lena Gercke on June 30, 2017, in Palma de Mallorca.

Dynagas 2Q Results Upbeat

The financial results of Greece-based Dynagas LNG Partners LP (DLNG) for Q2 beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share. It has profit of 43 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs, came to 48 cents per share. Dynagas reported  for the three and six months ended June 30 earnings of $17 million. It posted revenue of $42.6 million in the period. Tony Lauritzen, Chief Executive Officer of the Partnership, commented: "We are pleased to report our earnings for the second quarter of 2016. Water in Lena River in Yakutia to Reach Critical Level

Russian Emergency Situations Ministry predicts rise in water level to critical levels of 92 rivers in all regions of the Far East. The most unfavorable situation may arise on the Lena River in Yakutia. "After analyzing the information about the state of the ice in the rivers of the Far East and the amount of snow cover, the specialists of the Far Eastern Center for Monitoring and Forecasting Emergency Situations Ministry predict the possibility of raising the water level to the achievement of critical levels of 92 rivers in all regions of the Far East. In connection with the probability of flooding of low-lying terrain, populated areas, farmland and roads during the spring flood is not excluded on the whole territory of the region ", - reported in the Far Eastern Regional Emergency Center.

Dynagas LNG Partners Acquires LNG Carrier

Dynagas LNG Partners LP has entered into an agreement with Dynagas Holding Ltd to purchase 100% of the ownership interests in the entity that owns and operates the Lena River, a 2013 built 155,000 cubic meter ice class liquefied natural gas carrier, and the related time charter contract with Gazprom Global LNG Limited, for an aggregate purchase price of $240.0 million. The closing of the Lena River acquisition is expected to take place on or before December 31, 2015 and is subject to customary closing conditions. The Lena River is currently operating under the Gazprom Charter, which has an initial term of five years and expires in October 2018.
