SEACOR Sells Its Inland River Business to Ingram

New Company Will Combine Crowley and SEACOR Jones Act Tank Vessel Fleets

U.S. maritime companies Crowley and SEACOR Holdings' Seabulk Tankers have created a new joint venture that combines their liquid energy and chemical transportation vessels, operations and related services into a new, independent U.S. Jones Act service provider.The new company, Fairwater Holdings, will serve the U.S. domestic market with vessels and marine transportation solutions across the petroleum and chemical trades, as well as related third-party ship management services. It will include 20 oceangoing, articulated tug-barges (ATB) and 11 tankers, many under long-term charter.

Horisont Energi Picks Port of Rotterdam as European Distribution Hub for its Blue Ammonia

Horisont Energi, a company working to develop its blue ammonia project in Norway, has signed a deal with liquid bulk storage company Koole Terminals to develop an ammonia terminal and storage facility at the Port of Rotterdam, for further distribution.Horisont Energi is developing the Barents Blue project in Norway's north, Europe's first large-scale carbon-neutral ammonia plant with offshore carbon storage. Gas for the project will come from Equinor's and Var Energi's offshore fields in the Barents Sea.

Petrobras Moves European Commercial Activities from London to Rotterdam

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras will concentrate its European commercial activities in Rotterdam. This will result in the transfer of Petrobras Europe Ltd.’s commercial activities from London, England to Petrobras Global Trading B.V. in Rotterdam. The change will start in the next quarter and must be completed by the second half of 2021.The focus on Rotterdam is in line with the Petrobras policy of rationalizing its international presence in 2021, taking into account the world’s three major oil markets: Europe, North America and Asia.

Current Tanker Market Jeopardizing Tanker Industry

Tanker owners continue to be deeply concerned that the current tanker market is seriously jeopardizing the sustainability of the tanker industry. Speaking recently to Intertanko’s Council in London, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Koji Sekimizu, pointed out just how much the tanker industry contributes to the world economy. “Without the tanker industry, the world cannot survive - this is fact and reality,” he emphasized. Intertanko’s Managing Director Katharina Stanzel, went on to say, “The sustainability of the tanker industry is a balancing act between economics, tanker safety, the environment, and the demands of our global society which depends on the safe transportation of liquid energy for its way of life.
