Avenir LNG Orders Two LNG Bunker and Supply Vessels from Chinese Shipyard

UK-based small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier Avenir LNG has entered into a shipbuilding contract with Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering in China, a subsidiary of CIMC Enric, for two new LNG bunker and supply vessels.The two 20,000 cbm LNG bunker and supply vessels are scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.The newbuildings will feature new Type C tank designs, lower boil off rates, the latest engine technologies…

GTT Books Samsung Heavy Industries Order for 15 LNG Carriers Tank Designs

French engineering company GTT has received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries for tank designs of 15 new LNG carriers.GTT will design the tanks of these 15 vessels, which will each offer a capacity of 174,000 m3.The tanks will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the fourth quarter of 2028.The South Korean shipyard placed an order on behalf of a leading LNG player, with no further details revealed.

CNOOC Awards $2.4B Contracts for Construction of 12 LNG Carriers

China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) has awarded 16 billion yuan ($2.42 billion) worth of contracts to build 12 liquefied natural gas tankers, the largest of their kind in the country, the company said on Thursday.China is the world's largest buyer of the super-chilled gas, while CNOOC is the country's largest importer of the fuel and among the state majors leading a drive to expand their LNG fleet to meet rising import needs and facilitate fast-growing global trade.

Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (SHI) received an Approval in Principle (AiP) for an LNG carrier design under Bureau Veritas’ (BV) Cyber Managed Prepared notation. The certificate was delivered to the Hyun Joe Kim, Vice President of SHI, by Christophe Capitant, Chief Country Executive of BV Korea, at a ceremony on SHI R&D Center in Daejeon, Republic of Korea.SHI has received the AiP for its SVESSEL smart ship solution, which focuses on complete digitalization of the ship and its applications.

Shipbuilding: DSME Delivers another LNG Carrier to Nakilat

Nakilat has taken delivery of a newbuild LNG carrier dubbed Global Sea Spirit, a ship to be commercially and technically managed in-house by Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL). Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea, this is the third of four LNG newbuild carriers to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Nakilat (60%) and Maran Ventures Inc. (40%). The first two LNG carriers’ newbuilds (ME-GI type) were delivered in May 2020 and January 2021 respectively and are currently in service.With a cargo carrying capacity of 174,000 cu.

GTT Wins Tank Design Orders for Two LNG Carriers

GTT announced it has received, at the end of July, an order from Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) for the tank design of two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers on behalf of an European shipowner. The vessels will be delivered in the first quarter of 2024.GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will offer 174,000 cubic meters cargo capacity and will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.
