Celsius Orders Four LNG Carriers

Shipowner Celsius Tankers announced it has ordered four new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from shipbuilder China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) (CMHI) for scheduled delivery in 2026 and 2027.Celsius has formed a joint venture with an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners (ArcLight), a middle-market infrastructure investor, to fund two of the LNG carriers. Celsius Orders Four LNG Carriers from Samsung Heavy Industries

Danish shipping company Celsius Tankers announced it has ordered a series of four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries. Upon delivery during 2023 and 2024, the 180,000-cuboc-meter capacity newbuilds will enter into long-term time charters with Clearlake Shipping, a subsidiary of Gunvor Group Ltd.Celsius Tankers recently took delivery of the fourth and last LNG carrier from the previous series of 180,000-cubic-meter capacity XDF vessels ordered at Samsung Heavy Industries in 2018.

Singapore’s First LNG Bunkering Vessel Hits the Water

Singapore’s first LNG bunkering vessel has hit the water in Keppel Nantong Shipyard in China. China's GCL, Shell Working on LNG Trading JV

GCL Oil& Natural Gas Co Ltd has entered a framework agreement with Royal Dutch Shell to explore setting up a joint venture based in eastern China to market and trade liquefied natural gas (LNG), the privately-owned Chinese company said on Tuesday.The proposed JV would secure LNG supplies from Shell and market the fuel to a receiving terminal which GCL is planning in Jiangsu province, GCL said in a statement.A Shell spokeswoman confirmed the agreement.The companies provided no further details. (Reporting by Chen Aizhu; editing by Jason Neely)

Ørsted Offloads LNG Biz to Glencore

Global leader in offshore wind Ørsted A/S has signed an agreement to divest its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business to the leading global natural resources company Glencore.According to the Denmark's largest energy company, Ørsted entered into a long-term agreement with the Dutch LNG regasification terminal Gate in Rotterdam regarding the right to use 3 billion cubic meters of annual regasification capacity from 2011 to 2031, in December 2007.Today, Ørsted’s LNG business consists of the long-term regasification capacity agreement with the Gate terminal in Rotterdam and five LNG purchase agreements.Even though Ørsted’s LNG team has performed well during the last few years, the business has been loss-making and is projected to remain so for years to come.

Bahri Looks to Make LNG Foray

Saudi Aramco's shipping arm Bahri has issued an expression of interest (EOI) to charter up to 12 liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers from 2025, its first foray into the superchilled fuel, industry sources said on Monday.No further details were immediately available and Saudi Aramco declined to comment. Milorad Doljanin New CEO of Avenir LNG

UK-based small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier Avenir LNG announced that Milorad Doljanin will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer with effect December 13th, 2019.According to a press release from the shipping venture backed by Stolt-Nielsen, Golar LNG and Höegh LNG, Doljanin joined in August 2019 as COO.He brings 15 years of LNG trading and commercial experience with PetroChina, Gazprom, EON and BP.Commenting on his appointment, Milorad said “This is an exciting time for Avenir LNG, a company which is uniquely placed to provide LNG to small-scale LNG customers who were previously unable to access the fuel’s environmental and commercial benefits.”Doljanin succeeds Andrew Pickering, who will retire as CEO of Avenir LNG Limited on December 13th, 2019.

RWE Delivers its First LNG to Britain

German utility RWE has delivered its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to Great Britain.The cargo, comprised of approximately 150 000 m3 of LNG, was regasified through a Milford Haven LNG Terminal, located close to RWE’s 2000 MW Pembroke B gas-fired combined cycle gas power plant (CCGT).The cargo has been sourced from the portfolio of RWE Supply & Trading, the subsidiary of RWE which is responsible for gas and LNG trading.The cargo was loaded from Sabine Pass Liquefaction Terminal in the Gulf of Mexico, USA and transported by RWE Supply & Trading to Great Britain on the Gaslog Savannah LNG carrier.Once regasified, the LNG will meet a significant proportion of any gas consumption needs of Pembroke Power Station. On a typical day Pembroke burns 8,000,000 m3 of natural gas.

Hammerfest LNG Ships 1000th LNG Cargo

Norwegian energy company Equinor reached a milestone at its Hammerfest LNG facility on Melkøya Island, “the Snøhvit plant”,  by loading the 1000th cargo of the chilled fuel.The cargo consists of 140 500 cubic metres of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Total sales value of all the LNG cargos since the field came on stream is in the range of NOK 130-150 billion. In addition, we have the value of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and condensate.Arctic Discoverer is the name of the tanker that will carry cargo number 1000 from the Hammerfest LNG plant. It will transport an LNG cargo from Melkøya to Bilbao in Spain.With this cargo the plant has produced and delivered LNG at a value of NOK 130-150 billion since it came on stream in 2007, depending on the prices achieved in the period.

Vitol, ENH Form LNG Trading JV

Commodity trading company Vitol and the Mozambican state-owned oil and gas company ENH have formed ENH Energy Trading, a partnership focused on trading oil products.The Dutch energy and commodity trading company said in a press note that ENH Energy Trading will initially be owned 51% by ENH and 49% by Vitol. Woodside in LNG Supply Deal with Uniper

Australian LNG producer Woodside signed a heads of agreement (HOA) with Uniper Global Commodities SE for a long-term (13 years) supply deal which would kick off in 2021.The quantity of LNG to be supplied will initially be up to 0.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), increasing to approximately 1 Mtpa from 2025.Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said the HOA, signed at Gastech in Houston, builds on previous LNG supply arrangements between Woodside and Uniper.“This HOA deepens our relationship with Uniper, an international energy company and a leading player in global gas markets. Total's Investments in Tellurian Totals $907mln

Tellurian, an integrated global natural gas business firm, announced that it entered into definitive agreements with subsidiaries of Total S.A. for a $500 million equity investment in Driftwood Holdings LP, and related purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG).Along with Total’s previously announced agreement to purchase approximately $200 million of Tellurian common stock, Total’s aggregate investment in the Tellurian portfolio will be approximately $907 million at final investment decision (FID) for Driftwood, the NASDAQ-listed company said in its second quarter 10-Q filing."We continue to advance negotiations for the sale of LNG and interests in Driftwood Holdings with several counter-parties," it said.

GAIL Hires LNG Carrier from MOL

India's state-run natural gas firm GAIL (India) Ltd has hired a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier on short-term charter from Japan's shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL).MOL, the world’s largest operator of LNG carriers, in its press release, did not disclose further details of the charter deal, including the duration of the contract, the name of the ship and the day rate.GAIL is the largest natural gas Company of India with approx. 11,400 Km of cross country existing trunk pipeline network and another 4,000 Km pipelines in advance stage of completion. Global LNG Demand 16% Up in Q2

Anthony Veder Boosts Gas Pool Fleet

Anthony Veder, which operate gas tankers in all the segments of gas shipping, from LPG shipping to LNG shipping and from CO2 shipping to ethylene shipping, will take over the commercial management of five gas carriers of Chicago-based GATX Corp.The vessels will start trading in Anthony Veder’s gas pool in June, the Rotterdam-based shipowner said in a press note.With this transaction Anthony Veder further strengthens its position as liquified gas shipping company to a fleet of 38 ethylene, LPG and LNG carriers, it said.The gas carriers previously were part of the Norgas pool and will be renamed starting with Coral, the release noted.Three out of five vessels will transport liquefied petroleum gas and petrochemical gasses such as ethylene.
