American P&I Club Announces Leadership Change

After 27 years’ service as Chief Executive Officer of Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc. (SCB), the Managers of the American P&I Club, Joe Hughes will stand down from that role on August 1, 2022. Dorothea Ioannou, currently Deputy Chief Operating Officer of SCB, will succeed Hughes as CEO from that date, making history as the first woman to ascend to the top executive position of an International Group P&I club in the 167 year history of the marine mutuals.At the same time, Vince Solarino will step down as Chief Operating Officer of SCB, Inc.

US Federal Maritime Commission Hires New Secretary

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Daniel B. Maffei today announced the hiring of William “Bill” Cody to serve as the agency’s Secretary.Cody has more than 20 years of extensive legal and administrative experience at the federal and state government levels as well as in the private sector. Bollinger Announces Promotions

Bollinger Shipyards President and CEO Ben Bordelon announced the promotions of two key leaders. Jerome Eymard has been promoted to the position of Director of Human Resources, and Rachael Battaglia to the position of General Counsel. Jerome Eymard has a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources and a Master of Business Administration from Nicholls State University, and received his Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification in 2012. Years After BP U.S.Oil Spill: Compensation Battle Rages

Four years after the Deepwater Horizon spill, oil is still washing up on the long sandy beaches of Grand Isle, Louisiana, and some islanders are fed up with hearing from BP that the crisis is over. Jules Melancon, the last remaining oyster fisherman on an island dotted with colourful houses on stilts, says he has not found a single oyster alive in his leases in the area since the leak and relies on an onshore oyster nursery to make a living. He and others in the southern U.S. state say compensation has been paid unevenly and lawyers have taken big cuts. The British oil major has paid out billions of dollars in compensation under a settlement experts say is unprecedented in its breadth. Some claimants are satisfied, but others are irate that BP is now challenging aspects of the settlement.

The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced its 2014 board of trustees. Consisting of 117members, the Coast Guard Foundation Board of Trustees and Directors oversees management of the organization and helps to provide resources to advance the Foundation’s mission to support the service of men and women in the United States Coast Guard. Nine HII Employees Honored

Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that nine employees from its Newport News Shipbuilding and Ingalls Shipbuilding divisions were recognized for achievements in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) during the 27th annual Black Engineer of the Year Award STEM Global Competitiveness Conference. This year's conference is being held at the Washington Marriott in Wardman Park through Saturday. Theodore A. Bush is an electrical engineer at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He has played a key role in his group's contribution to the Large Deck Amphibious (LDA) Program and the Navy's newest fleet of the San Antonio-class amphibious assault ships. OMNI Hires Mogel

OMNI Energy Service Corp. announced that Ronald D. Mogel has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company and is expected to begin in the middle of January, 2008. Mogel joins OMNI from Horizon Offshore Inc., a Nasdaq listed company that was acquired by Cal Dive International, Inc. in December 2007 for $628 million. Mr. Mogel most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Horizon. He also acted as the company's Director and Vice President of International Accounting and Tax from 1999 to 2005. Previously, Mr. Mogel served as the Vice President of Finance at Newpark Shipbuilding- Pelican Island, Inc., and from 1995 to 1998 he occupied the role of CFO at John E. Chance & Associates.

MariTEL Names Fyock Vice President Sales

Telecommunications industry veteran Lawrence R. Fyock has been appointed vice president sales for MariTEL. Launched in June 2001, MariTEL’s new Marine Wireless VHF Radiotelephone Network and Digital Selective Calling (DSC) currently covers the Gulf of Mexico and lower Mississippi River. Fyock’s will be responsible for MariTEL’s sales activity as the Network expands nationwide over the next few years. Fyock has over 19 years experience in telecommunications. He was most recently vice president ofsales and marketing for Digital Access, Inc. a facilities-based voice, video and data provider. Fyock was also a district director and vice president of sales and marketing for Sprint PCS, where he developed sales and marketing programs for the nationwide wireless provider.

Global Industries, Ltd. has attained the offshore marine construction business of its Mexican joint venture CCC Fabricaciones y Construcciones, S.A. de C.V. and sold its interest in CCC to the other principal shareholder of CCC, Grupo Consorcio de Fabricaciones y Construcciones. Under these terms, Global is acquiring four marine vessels and the marine support base at Cuidad de Carmen, Mexico, in addition to the existing offshore marine construction contracts totaling more than $72 million. Another transaction in the works is a definitive purchase agreement that was signed for the attainment of ETPM, SA, an international offshore construction company.
