KMSS Wins Contract

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has won the contract to supply its integrated monitoring and control system to two Suezmax tankers currently under construction at Split Shipyard, Croatia. The tankers are owned by Tankerska Plovidba d.d., of Zadar in Croatia. The delivery will include the KMSS AutroCargo GL-100 radar based cargo level gauging system. The GL-100 level gauge consists of the GLA100 Level Sensing Unit located on the tank connected to a GLK-100 Signal Processing Unit normally located in the Cargo Control Room. Dedicated signal processing ensures normal system operation on the rest of the system if a malfunction occurs on one of the units. Ballast and Service tank level gauging will be monitored by the KMSS GT302/303 pressure transmitters.

KMSS Wins Contract

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has won the contract to supply its integrated monitoring and control system to two Suezmax tankers currently under construction at Split Shipyard, Croatia. The monitoring and control system will be managed from the KMSS DataChief C20 machinery automation system. The delivery also includes two Local Operator Stations (LOS) connected directly to the controller area network.

KMSS Seals Brazilian Contracts

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has taken orders to provide over $3 million worth of services and equipment to Petrobras and Metalnave SA, both based in Brazil. KMSS products are also set to be displayed at this years World Petroleum Expo, to be held in Rio this September. KMSS will supply Autrocargo cargo monitoring systems for the Petrobras P-43 and P-48 Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSO’s), currently under construction in Singapore and Brazil and bound for the Barracuda and Caratinga field developments. Petrobras has 11 FPSO’s in operation and under construction, 8 of which have been fitted out with KMSS systems.

CAE's Marine Division Wins Contracts Worth $12.5M

CAE's marine division has signed contracts with a number of commercial marine customers around the world for a total value of more than $12.5M. In the largest of the contracts, CAE has been selected by Croatia's Brodosplit Shipyard to supply both CAE Damatic(TM) automation systems as well as an integrated navigation system with voyage data recorders and bridge consoles for six P-MAX tankers contracted by STENA. CAE Damatic automation systems enable a single crewman to have full control of all shipboard machinery and equipment. Control System from EDI

Electronic Design, Inc. (EDI), designs and manufactures shipboard control and monitoring systems, training and simulation systems, and related products for large and small ships; both commercial and military. In 1997, EDI was chosen to participate in the U.S. Navy's Smart Ship project, and was awarded a contract to completely retrofit the hardwired Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring System (MPCMS) aboard an amphibious troop carrier (LSD 47), with a state-of-the-art, processor-based, software system using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology. Smart Ship was conceived in 1996 by the Navy to evaluate its future with respect to manpower and cost. It was clear COTS technology and reduced manning were essential elements.
