MSE Enters LNG Repair Business
In line with the changing business pattern in the ship repair industry and new business opportunities in the fast growing fleet of lng carriers around the world, Malaysia’s Malaysia Shipyard & Engineering (MSE) has entered the lng repair business. The yard has demonstrated its ability to innovate, reposition and transform itself to cater to this specialised niche market and shown its commitment by investing substantially to build up lng repair capabilities and facilities. As part of a drive to enhance capability and expertise in the repair of lng carriers, MSE has entered into a Technical Service Agreement on October 15th 2002 with Gaz Transport Technigaz (GTT).
FSU Redelivered
The Floating Storage Unit (FSU) Yoho FSO (ex N’kossa 1) was successfully re-delivered in September 2004 by Malaysia’s Malaysia Shipyard & Engineering (MSE) to SBM-IMODCO for Exxon Mobil Development Company (EMDC), who acted as project manager on behalf of owner, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN), after undergoing extensive upgrading, life extension and refurbishment work. The FSO will be moored in the Yoho Oil Field, offshore Nigeria. It is capable of producing up to 165,000 barrels/day and accommodate tankers up to 310,000 dwt. It was refurbished to allow effective utilisation of the unit for a further 15 years uninterrupted service on site.
Smedvig to Build New Tender Rig in Southeast Asia
Smedvig has entered into an agreement with Malaysia Shipyard and Engineering Sdn Bnd in South Malaysia for the purpose of building a new self erecting tender rig. including the derrick equipment set. which will significantly increase drilling efficiency. and deepwater areas in Southeast Asia. Smedvig.
Japan Tankers Enter MSE For Fix
There are currently two large Japanese-operated tankers, both from International Energy, in for repair at Malaysia's Malaysia Shipyard & Engineering (MSE) - the 299,986 dwt Ibukisan and the 314,026 dwt Asian Progress 11. The yard is also completing two PFSO conversion projects involving the 87,768 dwt Bunga Kertas for Malaysia's Petronas, and the 109,300 dwt Ross Sea for Singapore's Tanker Pacific. Also undergoing general repairs on the yard's Syncrolift are Sealift Industries' 27,750 dwt general cargo vessel Advantage, the 10,480 dwt multi-purpose vessel Bumi Jaya, and Pertamina's 18,127 dwt product tanker Pranedya Quartya.
