Mammoet Spurs US Expansion

Currently undergoing growth in terms of qualified personnel and asset acquisition, Mammoet USA said it plans for 2016 a $100 million investment in miscellaneous transport and lifting equipment, the vast majority being crawler cranes between 100 ton and 600 ton capacity. According to Mammoet, the expansion will enable the company to widen its range of services and better serve its customers along the Gulf Coast. With a global shift in project work to the Gulf Coast, additional personnel will be available to provide more manpower to these projects and new ventures, the company said.

Huge Heavy Lift Project Wraps up in Colombia

Mammoet USA informs it has completed a heavy lifting and transport project at the largest refinery in Colombia, the Reficar Refinery. Mammoet was contracted to assist in the modernization and expansion of the refinery in 2011. The scope of lifting and transport services for this project was large and diverse with more than 1,000 lifts and moves with 150 of the lifts weighing 100 tons or more. Mammoet served as a key contractor, handling all overland transport, inland shipping and on-site lifting.

At the upcoming Breakbulk Americas Event in Houston, Mammoet will present its partnership with Port Freeport, Texas. With this partnership, Mammoet intends to take its factory-to-foundation service to the next level. Mammoet’s factory-to-foundation service aims to ensure that large and heavy construction components, often sourced from suppliers throughout the world, are transported from the manufacturer to their final destination according to plan. With the Freeport Terminal, Mammoet has added an accessible port to its global network of terminals.

Mammoet Lifts Space Shuttle atop Carrier Aircraft

Mammoet lifts space shuttle replica Independence atop the original Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) NASA 905, a Boeing 747.

Last week, engineered heavy lifting and transport company Mammoet lifted a new attraction at the NASA Space Center Houston to a greater height. As thousands of onlookers watched, a 250-foot tall Mammoet crane lifted a 122-foot long space shuttle replica three stories high to its resting place atop the original Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) NASA 905, a Boeing 747. The Boeing, with its unique piggyback cargo, ultimately will become a destination for visitors from around the world. The delicate lift to the crown of the 63-foot 747 took about 40 minutes.
