EPA Award for Pentair
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Pentair's Aquatic Systems with a 2015 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about energy efficiency. Pentair's accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2015. Pentair, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2013 is being honored for its leadership in manufacturing products that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. This is Pentair's second consecutive Partner of the Year award. In order for pool pumps to earn the ENERGY STAR certification, the pool pumps must be at least 30-72 percent more energy efficient than typical pumps.
TE Connectivity Expands Sensors Offering with AST
TE Connectivity Ltd, a world leader in connectivity, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of American Sensor Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of pressure and position sensing solutions with 2013 revenues of approximately $20 million. The acquisition further expands TE’s growing portfolio of sensors and sensor systems. AST specializes in manufacturing products incorporating their proprietary technologies for use in high performance, harsh and extreme environments such as high corrosion, high and low temperatures, and toxic and hazardous materials settings. MHI Develop Double Column Machining Center
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has completed the development and begun full-scale marketing of a double column machining center - dubbed the "LH250" - capable of high-precision machining of workpieces up to 2 meters in length. The new unit not only offers significantly enhanced vibration absorption capability in the machine structure and greater rigidity in the high-speed main spindle, it also incorporates MHI's unique main spindle lubrication cooling technology and suppresses self-heating of the machine normally caused by long hours of continuous operation, which take a toll on machining precision. Through these innovations, the LH250 has achieved machining with 5 micrometer (µm, 0.001 millimeter) level precision, the highest level in the same size machine category.
