KOTUG Canada Bags Charters for Three Vessels

Marine services and towage firm KOTUG Canada Inc., a partnership between KOTUG International and Canada’s Horizon Maritime Inc., has won a long-term agreement with Trans Mountain, operator of Canada’s only oil pipeline servicing the West Coast of Canada providing tidewater access to foreign markets for Canada’s petroleum resources. KOTUG Canada will provide escort towage to tankers loaded at Westridge Marine Terminal. "KOTUG Canada was selected for this purpose by shippers on the Trans Mountain Pipeline after a rigorous and competitive process facilitated by Trans Mountain.

ExxonMobil Inks Deal to Collaborate on Caledonia LNG Project

ExxonMobil, Babcock International Group, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), Calor and Orkney Islands Council have signed an agreement to collaborate in the “Caledonia LNG ” project. The aim is to develop the infrastructure, storage and technical support needed to enable safe liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations for customers in the north of the UK and North Sea, including bunkering. The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 22 November to investigate opportunities to supply LNG for marine and land-based applications. ExxonMobil will explore the potential for its global marine network to deliver LNG bunker fuel to customers in the region as well as providing technical support and expertise to enable safe LNG bunkering operations.

Planet Ocean inform that they are supporting the UK Met Office and Plymouth Marine Laboratory to gather real-time Met-Ocean Data with their AXYS Watchman (WM-500) data acquisition and telemetry systems. The WM-500 can be configured to control a large variety of sensors providing data manipulation, logging and have the ability to interface with a variety of communication systems. Mariners Can Access Social Nertworks via GMN XGate

Global Marine Networks (GMN), providers of satellite data speed and services, announce the ability to update Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter via satellite phone, with the XGate Satellite Phone Data Service and a compatible computer. Imtech Marine Opens Aberdeen Office

Rotterdam - Imtech Marine announced the opening of a new office in Aberdeen. This new location in the Imtech Marine network will open officially on April 25 and will provide services to international and locally-based vessels and platform operators, such as electrical engineering support and emergency call-out services. In the UK, Imtech Marine has offices in Newcastle, Glasgow and Aberdeen. The opening of the Aberdeen office brings Imtech Marine’s total number of service and outfitting centers to 89 worldwide. “Imtech Marine is expanding its involvement in the offshore industry by launching a new Aberdeen office to provide vessel and platform operators with a wider choice of services, both in port as well as on the spot,” said Tom Simpson, managing director of Imtech Marine UK Ltd.

BP Marine Establishes Presence In Chile

BP Marine has opened a new supply network in Chile offering a full lubricant supply facility at 14 ports along the Chilean coast from Puerto Montt in the South - to Iquique located further North. Coordinating local blending of a core range of marine lubricants, the BP marine network in Latin America will operate out of Santiago de Chile, managing the supply and distribution of marine lubricants. Local stocks will be situated in strategic locations to provide for the 14 major Chilean coast ports. According to Alberto Julio, who is managing the BP Chile operation, the network will offer a service to BP International shipping customers requiring replacement products in Chile, as well as supplying the local coastal shipping industry.
