75 Crowley Vessels Earn Safety Awards

Seventy-five Crowley Maritime Corporation vessels have received the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA)’s annual Jones F. Devlin Awards in recognition of their outstanding safety records in 2013, honors given during a luncheon held last week in New Orleans, La. Each year the CSA grants Devlin Award certificates to manned merchant vessels that have operated for two or more years without incurring a Lost Time Injury (LTI), specifically highlighting the skills and dedication of the crewmembers responsible for safe vessel operations.

Crowley Awarded 100 CSA Environmental Certificates

During the tenth-annual Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C., this week, Crowley Maritime Corporation was awarded 100 Certificates of Environmental Achievement for 2013 – more than any other company in the running. The certificates were awarded to Crowley-owned and operated vessels for having worked at least two consecutive years without an environmental incident. Additionally, Crowley was also presented with a membership award in recognition of five years of support to the CSA.

Crowley Maritime Corporation presented U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Midshipman James R. Cameron with the company’s Maritime Security Enhancement Award, during the academy's recent 2013 graduation awards convocation. The Maritime Security Enhancement Award, established in 2003, is given each year to a USMMA student who demonstrates a strong interest in a port, maritime or transportation security career and who achieves the highest grade in the academy’s transportation security class.

Crowley honored with more CSA 2012 Environmental Achievement Awards than any other maritime company. Crowley Maritime Corporation was recently honored by the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) with 96 environmental achievement awards for safe vessel operations during 2012, more than any of the other 76 maritime companies recognized by CSA. MTC Takes Two New Vessels

The first of the two vessels, the Delaware Bay entered into MTC hands through its ship management company, Marine Transport Management, Inc. (MTM) at midnight on Thursday, July 1. Its sister vessel, the Chesapeake Bay will follow on July 22. Newark, New Jersey. The vessels are owned by First American Bulk Carriers Corporation and are on time charter to Royal P&O Nedlloyd. Each of the U.S. Flag container vessels has a 2,400 TEU capacity and is enrolled in the Maritime Security Program (MSP). Both call U.S ports in Newark, New Jersey; Norfolk, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina and Eastern Mediterranean ports in Italy, Israel, Turkey and Egypt. MTM currently operates five other U.S.

Crowley's Green Initiatives Garner Attention

Crowley Maritime Corporation's continued focus on environmental preservation and protection was recently recognized by the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) in Washington, DC, with environmental excellence awards for 26 ships, which are owned and/or operated by Crowley subsidiaries. The awards ceremony recognized companies with vessels that had achieved a record of two or more years of no recordable environmental incidents. Crowley companies, including Crowley Liner Services, Crowley Petroleum Services, Marine Transport Lines and Marine Transport Management, far surpassed this benchmark with a combined total of 152 years of environmental excellence among its recognized vessels.
