Soles Joins Glosten Associates

Peter Soles has joined The Glosten Associates as a Marine Consultant and will be supporting the firm’s ocean engineering and marine logistics projects. “Peter brings a broad knowledge of marine transportation policy, oceangoing vessel management and operation, voyage and cargo logistics, navigation, and tug/towing operations,” said Justin Morgan, PE, Glosten Principal. Prior to joining Glosten, Soles contributed to marine projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska for over 13 years as a tug operator and marine operations manager for two local marine transportation companies.

PortVision Appoints Perduto

PortVision has appointed James Perduto as Director of Transportation and Government Business Development. Based in N.Y., James assumes responsibility for business development for the company's enterprise software solutions and PortVision, a web-based platform that provides visibility and reporting for global commercial AIS vessel tracking activities. A veteran mariner and maritime transportation executive, James has had extensive business development experience in the maritime transportation industry. Most recently, James served as Vice-President of Sales for a maritime software solutions provider and prior to that, as Vice-President of North American Marketing and Customer Service for a large roll-on/roll-off steamship company. Perduto VP N American Sales ,ShipDecision

Veteran mariner and maritime transportation executive James Perduto has been appointed to lead the North American sales initiatives for ShipDecision technology. Based in N.Y., James assumes responsibility for spearheading sales of the company’s web-based business information management solution, both in the United States and Canada. Perduto has extensive business development experience in the maritime transportation industry, most recently as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service for Höegh Autoliners Inc. in N.Y. In addition to his commercial background James has held leadership positions as a U.S. Navy Commander while mobilized with The Joint Chiefs of Staff and a Military Sealift Command Expeditionary Port Unit.

Port of Tacoma Picks New Director

The Port of Tacoma Commission today selected Timothy J. Farrell as the Port's Executive Director, effective January 1, 2005. Farrell has served as the Port of Tacoma's Deputy Executive Director since 2000 and as Acting Executive Director since July 1, 2004. Andrea Riniker, who has served as the Port's Executive Director since 1997, will continue on in a transitional role until January 1, 2005. She will work with the Port Commission, and travel with Farrell and Port of Tacoma Commission President Clare Petrich to meet with customers to assure a smooth changeover to Farrell's leadership. Before joining the Port of Tacoma four years ago, Farrell, 38, was Deputy Port Director of Business & Administration for Massport, Boston.

American V. Ships Awarded Ship Management Contract

American V. Ships, a full-service international marine transportation management and operations organization has been named the technical manager of three vessels to be chartered to the recently established Wallenius and Wilhelmsen joint venture, Wallenius-Wilhemsen Line. American V. Ships will continue managing 5,600-unit Faust and 5,600-unit Fidelio, which have been under its management and under U.S. flag since 1989, as well as another vessel, Tanabata, newly entered into U.S. registry. American V. Ships is providing its full range of technical management services to include operating, crewing, budget control, purchasing and quality assurance. The three vessels are chartered through September 2005 to American Roll-On Roll-Off Carriers (ARC), a U.S.
