Stolt Tankers Appoints Schroeder as Managing Director

Stolt Tankers announced on Friday that is has appointed Maren Schroeder as Managing Director, Stolt Tankers Shipowning (STSO), with effect from April 1, 2022. Schroeder joined Stolt Tankers in 2019 as Fleet Director and will succeed Mark Martecchini who is retiring in April 2022, after serving with the company for more than 38 years.Lucas Vos, President of Stolt Tankers, said, “The appointment of Maren Schroeder is good news for Stolt Tankers, and retaining Mark Martecchini’s experience until April will help to ensure her smooth transition into the leadership team.

ICS Thrusts on CO2 Reduction

International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) plans to take concrete steps to support further CO2 reduction by international shipping.The representatives of the world’s national shipowners’ associations met last week in the Faroe Islands to review the priorities of the global shipowners’ association.ICS agreed a suite of actions in support of the UN International Maritime Organization (IMO) strategy to decarbonise international shipping in line with the United Nations 1.5 degree climate change goal.Speaking from the Faroe Islands, ICS Chairman, Esben Poulsson said: "It is imperative that IMO Member States adopt a new global regulation to mandate further short term CO2 reduction measures at the next session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee in 2020.

SSA President Poulsson Elected ICS Chairman

The President of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) Mr Esben Poulsson has been elected as the new Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). Mr Poulsson was elected at the ICS Annual General Meeting in Tokyo today (2 June). He takes over from Mr Masamichi Morooka, who has stood down after four years in office. Stolt Upgrades VSAT Connectivity Across Tanker Fleet

Stolt Tankers has chosen Marlink to upgrade its entire fleet of deep sea and regional tankers to the Sealink Global Ku-band VSAT service. The contract, signed in April 2013, covers the provision of Sealink to 90 tankers, resulting in significant bandwidth enhancements across the fleet, meeting Stolt’s changing connectivity requirements for operational and crew communication.
