MOL Safety Conference 2017 Held in Four Cities

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced that from late February through late March, the company held MOL Safety Conference 2017 programs, targeting MOL Group seafarers, in four locations worldwide. The cities were Split (Croatia), Mumbai (India), Manila (The Philippines) and Tokyo (Japan). Senior Managing Executive Officer Captain Masaaki Nemoto, who also serves as Director General of Safety Operations Headquarters, and many other MOL executives and staff members also participated in the conferences. Along with managers from in-house ship management companies and manning companies, they led active discussions of actual incidents and work-related accidents. The Japan P&I Club was invited to the conferences in Manila and Tokyo to enlighten seafarers about healthcare issues.

MOL Holds Graduation Ceremony for Filipino Seafarers

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines announced the graduation of 88 students in the sixth class of the "3rd Year Program," which MOL introduced with the goal of developing crewmembers who will uphold strict safety standards in vessel operation. The 3rd Year Program targets new seafarers from among third-year students at partner maritime schools in the Philippines. MOL provides education and training at the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS), its training center in the Philippines. On hand for the graduation ceremony were Development Bank of the Philippines President, Cecilia C. Borromeo, MARINA, Deputy Executive Director for STCW, Atty. Maximo I.

MOL Breaks Ground for New Philippines Academy

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. today announced that on March 8, it held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new merchant marine academy in Salitran, Dasmariñas City, the Philippines. It will be jointly established with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) (*1), MOL’s partner in the Philippines, and is scheduled to open in June 2018. A large audience was on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony, including special guests from the city of Dasmariñas and from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED); from MOL, Chairman Koichi Muto and Senior Managing Executive Officer Masaaki Nemoto. Everyone in attendance prayed for the safe completion of the construction project.

MOL Philippine Maritime Students Graduate

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) inform of the graduation of 126 students in the third class of the “Third Year Program,” which targets new seafarers from among third-year students at seven partner maritime schools in the Philippines. MOL explains that it provides education and training at the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping(MIS), its training center in the Philippines. The program received accreditation as the equivalent to university-level education under the Academe-Industry Linkage Program promoted by the Philippine government.

MOL Safety Conference 2012 Held

Tokyo—Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL) announced that the company has held the MOL Safety Conference 2012 in Manila, Mumbai, Dubrovnik, and Tokyo. About 210 seafarers who were on leave took part in the conference on February 13 in Manila; about 100 participated on February 23 in Mumbai; about 130 attended the event on February 28 in Dubrovnik; and about 70 were on hand for the March 7 session in Tokyo. The event opened with a strong message from MOL Chairman Akimitsu Ashida and President Koichi Muto, who said, "Safe operation is the key to winning credibility and trust from our customers in the severe business environment surrounding our company. Our goal is to become the world leader in safe operation, as stated in the midterm management plan ‘GEAR UP!
