John McLaurin to Receive 2013 Connie Award

John McLaurin, President of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA), a West Coast maritime trade association representing ocean carriers and marine terminal operators on a variety of local, state and federal issues, has been selected to receive the 2013 Connie Award to be presented on the West Coast by the Containerization and Intermodal Institute. The industry-wide dinner event honoring Mr. McLaurin will be held on Thursday, September 26, at the Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach, Calif.

International Trade and Transportation to Dominate Containerization & Intermodal Seminar

Has the Panama Canal expansion already outgrown itself? How does the success or failure of the administration's export initiative impact your bottom line? These questions and other hot topics will be the focal point of the Containerization & Intermodal Institute's one-day seminar in Houston on June 20th at the Houston Marriott North. The program will commence with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by two panels, adjourning at 5 p.m. Michael Masserman, Executive Director for Export Policy, Promotion & Strategy, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, is the luncheon speaker.

CII to Host Important Panama Canal Houston Event

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) organized seminar focuses on the Panama Canal, the update on U. S. export initiatives and breakbulk shipping. Michael Masserman, Executive Director for Export Policy, Promotion & Strategy, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, and Rodolfo Sabonge , Vice President of Market Research and Analysis, Panama Canal Authority, are confirmed an luncheon and keynote speakers, respectively. The luncheon will be followed by panel discussions among major shippers, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, railroads and Port of Houston officials. This is the second seminar to be held by the Containerization & Intermodal Institute after last year's  successful "Doubling U.S. Exports—a Reality Check" event in Chicago.
