MRM Facilitator Training Concludes in Manila

A successful Maritime Resource Management (MRM) Facilitator training event concluded today in Makati City, Manila, Philippines as 22 participants from China, Germany, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore had gathered for the two-day event held at the European Training & Competence Center (ETCC) Inc. to be trained and certified as MRM Facilitators. Martin Hernqvist of ALL Academy, trainer at the event, said the event was a success thanks to the active participation from the attendees.

BASS Launches Fleet Management System

BASS, a global provider of fleet management software for ship owners and ship managers as well as operators of rigs and floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) and offshore units, introduced the BASSnet 2.9 Fleet Management System during the 13th edition of the Asia Pacific Maritime event in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. In its latest offering, BASSnet 2.9 now features new modules such as environmental management, port forms management and Excel forms management.

TNKC Fleet Upgraded with BASS Software

Maritime software company BASS starts the fourth quarter by clinching a fleet-wide system upgrade for the subsidiary of the K-Line group Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd (TNKC). With this upgrade, 107 TNKC vessels will operate on the BASSnet 2.8 Fleet Management System to enhance its efficiency gains. The ship management company has been operating on BASSnet 2.0 since 2001. TNKC has been enjoying the benefits of optimizing its shipping operations with BASSnet Fleet Management Systems for a full 12 years.

RINA's Logmarin Converts VLCC

Vale uses Logmarin to develop the world’s largest floating bulk terminal. Genoa-based Logmarin Advisors, part of the RINA Group, has enabled Brazil’s Vale SA to convert the Ore Fabrica (the former VLCC Front Duchess) into the world’s largest transhipment vessel. It will shortly come into operation at a site in Subic Bay, the Philippines, where it will operate as a platform for the transhipment of iron ore cargoes from Vale’s 400,000 dwt valemax ore carriers into capesize vessels for on carriage to markets in Asia.
