COSCO Orders Deltamarin B.Deltas

Marking another order for Deltamarin’s B.Delta37, the first Chinese shipowner COSCO has ordered four 40,000 DWT Handymax bulk carriers at Tianjin Xingang shipyard in China. In addition to the latest COSCO order, 16 B.Delta37 vessels had previously been ordered at the Tianjin Xingang shipyard, with eight vessels for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and another eight for M.T. Maritime Management Group (MTMM) / Strategic Shipping Inc. (SSI). The main dimensions of the vessels for COSCO are: length below 180 m and beam 30 m. The service speed at design draught is 14.0 knots.

More Orders for B.Delta Bulk Carriers

Deltamarin announced that so far a total of 103 B.Deltas and derivates have been ordered by several world-known shipowners at nine Chinese shipyards. The latest addition is the order of eight open hatch B.Delta37 bulk carriers by Polish shipowner, Polska Zegluga Morska P.P. (Polsteam), at Yangfan Group shipyard. The main dimensions of Polsteam’s B.Delta37 are 179.99 m in overall length and 30.0 m in beam, with cargo carrying capacity of 50,000 m3. With a service speed of 14.0 knots…

SHIPPINGInsight 2013 Announces Agenda and Speaker List

The SHIPPINGInsight conference producers have finalized the agenda and confirmed speaker list for the 2013 Fleet Optimization Conference, scheduled for Oct. 22-24 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford, Conn. “The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Connect and Engage,’” said conference co-producer Frank Soccoli. “We are bringing together an impressive lineup of speakers, moderators, panelists, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates representing all segments of the shipping industry. New for 2013 is an extra LNG Workshop, which will take the form of a roundtable discussion of experts to consider the barriers, challenges, solutions and best practices for achieving widespread adoption of LNG as a marine fuel. The workshop is free for all registered delegates.

Deltamarin Designs Car Carriers at Chinese Shipyard

Deltamarin Ltd. signed a contract with the Chinese Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry for Approval and Detail Design work for the two (plus two options) Post Panamax Car Carriers ordered by the Swedish shipowner Wallenius Lines. Prior to this contract, Deltamarin has already developed the Outline and Contract Design together with the shipyard for the owner. Tianjin Xingang shipyard has previously focused on building mainstream vessel types such as bulk carriers. With Deltamarin’s assistance, the yard managed to secure this newbuilding contract of a more sophisticated vessel type. The yard is also currently building 10 bulk carriers of Deltamarin’s B.Delta37 design: four vessels for French Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and six vessels for the US-based M.T. Maritime Management Group.

Registration Open for SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference

The producers of the SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference have announced that online registration is now open. Following a successful inaugural conference in 2012, the 2013 event will take place October 22-24 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford, Conn. It will bring together senior executives from shipowners, ship managers, classification societies, regulatory bodies, consultancies and suppliers to address the pressing issues facing fleet operators in the current business climate. The confirmed keynote speakers for the conference are Anthony Chiarello, president and CEO of Tote, Inc., and Yasushi Nakamura, executive vice president of Class NK.

China Shipyards Get B.Delta Design Bulker Orders

The latest batch of orders for Deltamarin's B.Delta design bulk carriers comes from international shipowners, all to be built in China. The B.Delta43 order by the German ship owner HBC Hamburg Bulk Carriers at CSC Qingshan Shipyard and the B.Delta37 order by the Tunisian ship owner Transbulk at Yangfan shipyard are the latest additions to Deltamarin’s B.Delta series. On top of these new orders, China Navigation Company (CNCo) has exercised an option for another four B.Delta37 vessels at Chengxi Shipyard, d’Amico an option for one more B.Delta37 at Yangfan Shipyard, and M.T.

Deltamarin Snags Bulk Carrier Design Deal

Deltamarin has signed an agreement with Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., part of CSIC Group for the design of four very low fuel consumption Handysize Bulk Carriers to be built for M.T. Maritime Management Group / Strategic Shipping Inc. Deltamarin will take care of the Basic and Detail designs of the vessels as well as of Technical Procurement handling. Deltamarin will also have a site team to take the design to production. This is the second order for the B.Delta37 standard bulk carriers, which have evoked the interest of the market with their improved deadweight, cubic capacity and especially the extremely low fuel consumption compared to other available designs. The overall vessel length will be below 180 x 30m, with a service speed at design draft of 14 knots.
