USCG Updates Prohibited Cargo Carriers List

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Port State Control (PSC) updated its list of vessels and ship management companies that are prohibited from carrying U.S. government impelled cargos. USCG Issues Fines for Tank Response Plan Noncompliance

The Coast Guard has issued monetary penalties to three vessel operators in violation of federal regulations related to tank vessel response plan requirements. The vessels Pacific Galaxy, operated by Synergy Maritime PET, Tamar, operated by MTM Ship Management, and Yayoi Express, operated by MOL Tankship Management, have been issued a monetary violation for noncompliance with Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 155 Subpart D in Alaska. Tank Vessel Response Plan: Alaska Violators Fined

The vessels Pacific Galaxy, operated by Synergy Maritime PET; Tamar, operated by MTM Ship Management, and Yayoi Express, operated by MOL Tankship Management, have been issued a monetary violation for non-compliance with Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 155 Subpart D in Alaska. Vessel operators can face penalties of up to $11,000 per violation, per day. Tank vessels bound to or from a U.S. port and transiting through the Western Alaska Captain of the Port zone, remind the US Coast Guard, must have an approved geographic specific appendix in their vessel response plan for Western Alaska prior to transiting or operating within the COTP zone if carrying oil in bulk as cargo or oil cargo residue.

Chengxi Shipyard to Build Deltamarin's Bulk Carriers

The new orders are the first B. Delta 37 bulk carriers to be built at Chengxi shipyard and have been specifically amended to take into account specific requirements of China Navigation. Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industries Co. is currently building other B. Delta 37 handy-size bulk carriers for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) and M.T.M. Ship Management Pte Ltd. / Strategic Shipping Inc. and additional shipbuilding contracts are expected to be signed within a few months. •    Length over all 180 m. •    Beam 30 m. •    Scantling draft 10.50 m. •    Deadweight 39,500 metric tonnes. •    Cargo cubic 48,500 m3. Deltamarin has focused on fuel efficiency in the designs.

MTM The Washington State Department of Ecology issued a Press Release stating that it has awarded the Exceptional Compliance Program (Ecopro) award to M.T.M. Ship Management Private Ltd. of Singapore for excellence in marine safety and environmental stewardship.
