Eastern Holds another Double Event for Hornbeck Offshore

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announced another “double event” in Panama City, Florida. On Friday, August 8, 2014, the christening and subsequent launching of the HOS Brass Ring (Hull 209), was followed with the same day delivery of the HOS Black Rock (Hull 207) for Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC. The launch event was held at Eastern’s Allanton facility with hundreds of Eastern employees and guests in attendance with an afternoon of perfect weather and launch conditions. Attending the launch from Hornbeck was Bill Krewsky, Director of Engineering and Project Management.

Vard Orders Parat Electric Steam & Hot Water Boilers

During the last month, PARAT Halvorsen AS has collected four new boiler plant orders from the Vard Group and their multipurpose platform ships of Vard 1 08 design. Part of and included in PARAT’s scope of supply will be combined electric steam and hot water boilers with capacity each of 1,250kW. In normal operation, the boiler is a part of the hot water and heat recovery loop and supplies necessary additional heat to the HVAC, sanitary and tank heating systems on board. If an oil spill disaster should occur, the boiler will be remobilized to run as a steam boiler.

Two MacGregor Subsea Cranes Ordered for Chinese PSVs

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a new contract from Chinese shipbuilder, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd., for two 100-metric-ton active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor cranes. The cranes will be fitted to two 86-meter multipurpose platform supply vessels (PSVs) under construction at the yard. Delivery of the cranes is scheduled for the end of September and October 2015. "A key quality of PSVs is that they are able to perform a wide variety of tasks effectively in demanding offshore environments.

Aliança Shipyard has acquired FORAN 3D Viewers for project control, construction and maintenance tasks. Strategically located in an area of 54,000 sqm in Niterói, alongside Baía de Guanabara (Brazil), Aliança Shipyard has experience in construction of high technology vessels as AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply), MPSV (Multipurpose Platform Supply Vessel), PSV (Platform Supply Vessel), OSRV (Oil Spill Response Vessel). The company said it works together with world-renowned designers as Rolls Royce Marine and Ulstein.

Eastern Launches Second HOSMAX 310 Vessel

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announced the launching of the HOS Black Foot (Hull 206) on Friday January 17, 2014 for Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC. The HOS Black Foot is Eastern’s second vessel in Hornbeck Offshore’s HOSMAX 310 class series. The launching event was held at Eastern’s Allanton facility with hundreds of Eastern employees and guests attending, including Naval Architecture students from the University of New Orleans, La. who were visiting the shipyard. Attending from Hornbeck was Carl G. Annessa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

HB Rentals Provides 14- and 15- Building Packages for Mexico Projects

Accommodations specialist, HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services company, installed fourteen A60 – ABS/USCG approved buildings on an ABS-classed offshore construction vessel and provided fifteen buildings to a Lloyd’s-classed multipurpose platform supply vessel. Both vessels are located in Mexico, announced HB Rentals Senior Vice President of Global Operations Glenn Aguilar. The temporary building packages include the provision of sleeper units, diners, laundry rooms and locker facilities.

Today (9.02.2011) for the first time in the history of local shipbuilding industry, Colombo Dockyard named a vessel which will be charted by the owner Greatship Group, for the world renowned Brazilian Oil Company PETROBRAS. The naming ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest Hon. Basil Rajapaksa Minister for Economic Development. The Lady Sponsor of the ceremony was Dr. (Mrs.) Chandrika Yapa. His Excellency Ashok Kantha High Commissioner for India in Sri Lanka, His Excellency K.

NG Supplies Nav Systems for Brazil OSVs

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded contracts to supply bridge navigation systems for four new offshore supply vessels to be built in Brazil. The four multipurpose platform supply vessels, designed by Rolls-Royce, will be built at the Estaleiro Alianca shipyard near Rio de Janeiro for Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO). They will be placed on long-term charter with Petrobras, the Brazilian state oil company, to provide support services for offshore oil platforms. The scope of supply includes radars, autopilot, speed and heading sensors and other navigation systems. Sperry Marine's sales and service representative in Brazil…
