Kawamura is SENER's Japan Region Manager

Koji Kawamura

The engineering and technology group SENER has appointed Koji Kawamura as Country Manager for Japan. Koji Kawamura is a professional with wide experience in marine software and in project and business management. Kawamura assumes this position with the objective of managing SENER office in Japan, mainly focused in the marine activity, both for the number of users of the FORAN System – the CAD/CAM/CAE software developed by SENER for design and production of ships and offshore structures that celebrates its 50 year in 2015 – and for the opportunities in ship engineering projects.

Newbuild Chemical Tanker Employs Innovative Tank Design

The 12,500MT Sunrise Hope is the world's first chemical tanker to use a combination of duplex stainless steel and stainless clad steel in the construction of its cargo tanks.

The world's first chemical tanker to use a combination of duplex stainless steel and stainless clad steel in the construction of its cargo tanks was delivered to Oita-based Hiro Naviera S.A. November 15, 2014 by Usuki Shipyard Co., Ltd., Japanese classification society ClassNK reported. The 12,500MT chemical tanker Sunrise Hope, owned by Hiro Naviera S.A., will be operated by Nippon Marine Co., Ltd. The eco-ship design vessel is equipped with 14 cargo tanks, all which employ duplex stainless steel technology.

New FORAN Academic License Agreements in Japan

Concluded FORAN Academic License Agreement with Hiroshima University. SENER concluded FORAN Academic License Agreement with Hiroshima University on February 15, 2013. Hiroshima University is the first licensee who introduced FORAN Academic License in Japan. It is very honorable to welcome Hiroshima University as a new FORAN user. Associate Professor, Ph.D. Akihiro Takezawa, Division of Mechanical System and Applied Mechanics, Faculty of Engineering of Hiroshima University, and Alfonso Cebollero, SENER Regional Director for Asia & Pacific, signed the Agreement at Okayama, where a FORAN seminar was taking place. Mr. Takezawa is an extensively active researcher and expert in the field of structural and vibration analysis, not only in the shipbuilding area.
