Delfin LNG Gets Another Year to Build Floating LNG Project Off Louisiana

U.S. energy regulators on Wednesday granted Delfin LNG a second one-year extension until September 2021 to build its proposed floating liquefied natural gas export facility off the coast of Louisiana.Delfin is one of several North American LNG developers that have delayed decisions on whether to go ahead with multibillion-dollar projects as gas prices slumped worldwide and buyers became reluctant to sign long-term agreements needed to fund construction.Global gas prices collapsed because of an oversupplied market and coronavirus demand destruction.

FERC Approves Plaquemines LNG Facility

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved the construction of Venture Global's proposed $8.5 billion Plaquemines liquefied natural gas export facility in Louisiana. Venture Global LNG to build an LNG Plaquemines export terminal and a gas pipeline between the terminal and the interstate gas network.PGNiG will receive liquefied natural gas from this terminal from 2023.“We congratulate our American partners from Venture Global LNG for obtaining the final FERC approval for the construction of the second natural gas liquefaction facility. We are particularly pleased with such precise implementation of the assumed schedule of both investments by Venture Global LNG.

FERC Issues Final EIS Annova LNG

Application Filed for First US Floating LNG Export Facility

By Timothy Gardner, Reuters Excelerate Energy LP said on Monday it has filed a formal application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to build and operate the first U.S. floating liquefied natural gas export facility. The privately-held company hopes the facility, off the coast of Texas, will be operational in late 2018. Excelerate has federal approvals in place to export gas to countries with which the United States has free trade agreements. It is hoping to get approval from the Department of Energy to export to countries with which the United States does not have free trade agreements, and applied to do so in late 2012.
