Gastrade Awards Alexandroupolis LNG Terminal Towage Contract to Svitzer

Greece's First FSRU Project Starts with Conversion at Keppel

Work has begun to develop Greece’s first Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore, with the conversion of GasLog’s DNV classed LNGC Gaslog Chelsea, recently renamed Alexandroupoli.Following conversion, FSRU Alexandroupoli will serve as an offshore storage and regasification facility and will be part of the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System (INGS). The 155,000-cbm LNG carrier, recently reflagged to the Greek flag, is the first FSRU conversion under the Greek Flag for operation in the Aegean Sea.

The kick-off ceremony for the realization of Gastrade SA's LNG FSRU facility in Alexandroupolis, Greece, was held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in the old Storage House of the Alexandroupolis Port Customs.Once delivered, the FSRU, with a capacity of 153,500 c.m. of LNG, will be moored in the offshore area 17.6 km southwest of the port of Alexandroupolis. It will be connected to the National Natural Gas Transmission System (NNGΤS) of Greece with a 28 km long pipeline, through which the gasified LNG will be transmitted to the markets of Greece…

Qatargas Delivers First Q-Flex LNG Cargo

The world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) has delivered the first LNG cargo onboard a Q-Flex vessel to Greece’s Revithoussa LNG terminal.Doha-based global energy operator said in a press release that  this is for the first time that a Q-Flex LNG vessel has called at the terminal ever since it underwent an expansion drive late last year.The cargo, which was loaded at the Ras Laffan Terminal in Qatar on 3rd July 2019, arrived at the Revithoussa Terminal on board the Q-Flex vessel, 'Al Gharrafa', on 20th July 2019.The Q-Flex cargo is part of yet another multi-port delivery executed by Qatargas.

Alexandroupolis FSRU Delivery Delayed by Six Months

Greek utility company Gastrade has extended the timeline for completion of its Greek LNG development by six months to allow more time for the delivery of offshore floating, storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System Project.Gastrade, the developer of the 5.5 billion cubic metre per year regasification project, has pushed back its completion date from the end of 2020 to the second quarter of 2021 to give interested suppliers more time to deliver an FSRU.The project is being developed by Gastrade, and consists of an offshore FSRU, as well as a mooring, and a system of subsea and onshore gas transmission pipelines…

BMT and MSI in Joint Alexandroupolis FSRU Terminal Project Award

BMT and Metocean Services International (MSI) have been jointly awarded a contract by Gastrade to deploy an Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) and develop metocean criteria to be utilized for the design of the offshore moored FSRU and the subsea pipeline to shore. The Alexandroupolis FSRU will be located offshore Greece in the northern Aegean Sea in approximately 40m water depth and will connect to shore via a 24km subsea pipeline. The FSRU is part of the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System which aims to create a new natural gas gateway to central and south-eastern Europe.

Wood Group Bags Alexandroupolis FEED

Wood Group has secured a new front end engineering design (FEED) contract with Gastrade S.A. for the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System (INGS) offshore Greece. The project, to develop a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving, storage and regasification unit (FSRU), will create a new natural gas gateway to the markets of south eastern and central Europe. Wood Group’s subsea team will perform the design and engineering definition of the Alexandroupolis FSRU and its subsystems which will support the final investment decision for the project, planned for late 2017. FGS Plans to Build, Operate LNG Facility

Floridian Natural Gas Storage Company (FGS) has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to build and operate a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility in Martin County, Fla. The facility would be located on approximately 145 acres at the site of the former Florida Steel manufacturing facility about two miles (3 km) north of Indiantown. The project would include the initial construction of one nominal 190,000 cubic meter (6.7 MMcf) LNG storage tank, liquefaction systems, vaporization systems and two parallel pipelines, one to receive gas and one to send out gas, both approximately four miles (6.4 km) in length…
