NSWC Crane, Hydronalix Sign CRADA for AISUM Prize Challenge Hardware Support

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) and Hydronalix, Inc. of Green Valley, AZ, signed a Cooperative Research And Development Agreement (CRADA) entitled AISUM Prize Challenge Hardware Support. Agreement number: NCRADA-NSWCCD-21-419. NSWC Crane is hosting an Artificial Intelligence for Small Unit Maneuver (AISUM) Prize Challenge with contestants from industry and academia. With the strategic goals of developing software that can be supported by a variety of hardware, non-proprietary robotic autonomy baseline component architecture and software were required.

New Navy Contracts

EnerSys Energy Products, Inc., Warrensburg, Mo., is being awarded a $17,816,784 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the design and construction of submarine valve regulated lead acid class batteries and associated parts and engineering support. This contract is for the procurement of replacement back-up batteries for in-service nuclear submarines. Work will be performed in Warrensburg, Mo., and is expected to be completed by October 2012. Contract funds in the amount of $12,100 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with one offer received. Sonobuoy Contract Awarded

Undersea Sensor Systems Incorp., Columbia City, Ind., is being awarded a $9,750,276 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of AN/SSQ-62E sonobuoys in support of the United States Navy Air Antisubmarine Forces in the mission functions of detection, classification, and localization of adversary submarines during peacetime and combat operations. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $18,923,029. American Technology’s Enhanced LRAD 1000 Selected by Navy

American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ: ATCO), a leading innovator of directed sound products and technologies, announced its enhanced LRAD 1000® has been selected by the U.S. Navy as its acoustic hailing and warning device (AHD) for Block 0 of the Shipboard Protection System. The multi-year contract, issued by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, opens the door for ATC's enhanced LRAD 1000 to be deployed throughout the U.S. Navy's fleet. A $500,000-plus opening order under the contract is scheduled to ship this quarter. Developed for military force protection in 2002, ATC created the directed acoustic hailing and warning device market category with the introduction of its proprietary LRAD technology and products.

FLIR Systems Awarded $9.3m Navy Contract

FLIR Systems, Inc., North Billerica, Mass, is being awarded a $9,269,600, firm-fixed-price-contract for procurement of AN/KAX-1A Maritime Forward-Looking Infrared systems, cable kits, spares and associated data. The AN/KAX-1A, which supports the Long Range Ground Mobility Visual Augmentation Systems (LR-GMVAS) Program, provides ground vehicles with an all-weather, day/night high resolution stabilized FLIR (i.e. thermal) imaging capability to augment existing optical and radar sensors by imaging enemy forces, particularly during periods of darkness and poor visibility. Work will be performed in North Billerica, Mass., and is expected to be completed by September 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. ITT to Provide Night Vision to Navy and Coast Guard

ITT Corporation has received a contract to provide night vision equipment to the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard through 2012. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Crane, Ind., awarded the indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for submersible AN/PVS-14 night vision monocular devices. The contract has a potential total value of $37 million. Work for the contract will be performed at ITT Night Vision, based in Roanoke, Va. ITT's AN/PVS-14 is a monocular Generation (Gen) 3 device, which allows the user to adjust the gain control for improved clarity of vision in varying light conditions. The unit can be handheld, head-mounted, weapon-mounted or adapted to a camera or camcorder. The submersible version will be provided on this contract.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Inc. Fairfax, Va., is being awarded a $6.3m cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for engineering support and systems software/firmware support for Improved Console and Display (ICAD) related upgrades to the AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare System.
