APM Terminals to Invest $1 Billion in Brazilian Terminals by 2026

Maersk's APM Terminals has pledged a €962 million (US$1 billion) investment in its Brazilian operations up to 2026.This figure includes a €296 million of a total €483 million investment exclusively for the Phase One development of a new terminal in Suape. The terminal, located in Estaleiro Atlântico Sul, is in the final stages of acquisition and will rejuvenate infrastructure and increase competition in the port.APM Terminals has committed an additional €666 million of investment to the company’s four other terminals and inland depots, by 2026.

CK Hutchison to Invest $700M in Two Major Egyptian Ports

SC Ports Constructs New Container Terminal

South Carolina (SC) Ports has celebrated the structural completion of the operations building at Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal, a new container terminal along the Cooper River, which will open in March 2021.S.C. Ports celebrated today the structural completion of the terminal’s new operations building. Vado Gateway Container Terminal Opened

The international container terminal operating company APM Terminals (APMT) said it has opened a new container terminal in Vado Ligure, on the Italian Riviera, which will be capable of handling 900,000 TEUs of containerized cargo.APMT has a 50.1% share in the “Vado Gateway,” while Cosco Shipping Ports has a 40% share and Qingdao Port International has a 9.9% share. Konecranes to Supply RTG Cranes to Tangier Port

Finnish manufacturer of cranes and lifting equipment Konecranes Oyj has won an order to supply a terminal at Tangier Med Port II with 16 Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes.The cranes will be delivered in batches with the last ones arriving by mid-July 2020. The order was booked in May 2019.The 16 Konecranes RTGs will go into service at the new container terminal TC3, Tanger Med 2, in the Port of Tangier. Vancouver Port Cargo Volumes Hit Record in 2018

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has released the 2018 year-end statistics for cargo through the Port of Vancouver. The second consecutive year of record cargo volumes reflects Canada’s growing trade, said a press release.Overall cargo volume through Canada’s largest port reached a record high of 147 million tonnes, up 3.5 per cent from 2017, it said."One of the port’s biggest strengths continues to be the ability to accommodate the most diversified range of cargo of any port in North America. Contrecoeur Port Expansion Deal Signed

The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) announced that it will work with the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) to advance the project development of a new container terminal in Contrecoeur, where the port plans to expand its activities.The work could lead to an investment in the South Shore project, potentially via a form of equity or debt financing, said Pierre Lavallée, the bank’s chief executive officer.The Memorandum of Understanding confirms that CIB and MPA will work on the financial structuring of the proposed terminal. Italy’s First, Fully-Automated Gantry Cranes Reach Vado Ligure

Italy’s first ARMG (Automated rail mounted gantry cranes) have reached APM Terminals Vado Ligure. These will be used in the new Container Terminal due for completion in 2019. The long journey to Italy started in China in January and included stops in South Africa and the UK. These six cranes are the first of 21 cranes to be delivered. These fully automated Gantry Cranes are the most technologically advanced in the terminal. In addition to their considerable size (they can handle up to six stacked containers), they are operated remotely by highly specialised operators who work from a control room, which is currently under construction. Compared to standard specifications, APM Terminals requested around 20% customisation to meet its specific requirements.

First Arkas Line Ship To Dock In Contship Ravenna

Natalia A container ship that belongs to Turkish ARKAS shipping line is docked in Contship Ravenna – the Contship Italia Group gateway on the Adriatic Sea. Djibouti, CMA CGM in Talks to Develop New Container Terminal

Djibouti is in talks with French shipping company CMA CGM to develop a new container terminal at an initial cost of $660 million as part of the tiny African country's bid to expand into a sea and air transport hub for the continent. Aboubakar Omar Hadi, chairman of the Djibouti Ports and Free Zone Authority (DPFZA), told Reuters on Tuesday that the authority hopes to award the concession in July. It was also prepared to buy out DP World's stake in an existing container terminal to end a row with the Dubai port operator and avoid arbitration, he said.

DP World says Djibouti Has Not Offered to Buy its Doraleh Terminal Stake

DP World has not received an offer from Djibouti to buy its stake in the Doraleh Container Terminal, a spokesman for the port operator said on Wednesday after a Djiboutian official said the stake could be bought. The DP World spokesman also said the Dubai-owned company would consider it illegal if any company entered into any agreement or arrangement with the Djiboutian government related to the terminal. "We consider such action to be illegal, and will pursue our legal rights against any such third parties,” he told Reuters in a statement.
