Airmar Acquires Marport Commercial Fishing Division
Airmar Technology Corporation, a company that designs, engineers and manufactures ultrasonic transducers and sensor technology, announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Marport Deep Sea Technologies’ Commercial Fishing division, a leading developer of advanced sonar technology. Airmar will also acquire the Marport name and the web domain as a part of the transaction. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. New AVEVA Bocad Software Offers 30-40 Percent Project Savings
AVEVA has announced its release of new products and improvements in its AVEVA Bocad range of structural steel detailing software. The new products will increase structural detailing capability and enable more design standardization and automation. Together, by enabling more effective decision-making and increasing project transparency, these new features offer potential project time and cost savings of up to 30-40 percent. New Antifouling Products from Hempel
Building on the GLOBIC and DYNAMIC range of antifouling systems, marine coatings manufacturer Hempel launched two new antifouling products for drydockings and newbuildings. According to Hempel, the new antifoulings aim to deliver fuel savings up to 3% and provide added flexibility to shipowners and yards. GLOBIC 8000 is a new hydrolysing self-polishing antifouling product that fits between the existing GLOBIC 6000 and GLOBIC 9000 antifouling systems. It builds on GLOBIC technology and incorporates Hempel’s nano acrylate technology which delivers a fine polishing control mechanism to bring the integral biocides to the surface at a stable rate ensuring a clean hull.

Tank Vessel Construction Assistance Program Launched
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) is soliciting competitive proposals for construction in the United States of new product tank vessels necessary to meet commercial and national defense needs of the United States and to be built with assistance under Subtitle D of the Maritime Security Act of 2003. Any U.S. citizen or U.S. shipyard may submit a proposal. Under the National Defense Tank Vessel Construction Program, the new product tank vessels must be not less than 35,000 and not greater than 60,000 deadweight tons. Dometic to Debut New Product Line at Workboat
Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, will launch a range of new equipment, including products reported to be the first of their kind for the marine industry, at this year’s International Workboat Show, December 3-5 in New Orleans. Roughly one year after re-launching Si-Tex Marine Electronics, industry veterans Allen Schneider and Ted Bodtmann have announced the Long Island, N.Y.-based company is expanding its headquarters. By taking over a facility adjacent to its original offices, Si-Tex will be able to consolidate its sales and technical service operations at one location. 2007 was a hectic year for the Ulstein Group, with all of its companies running at full capacity. The Group had NOK 1.97 billion in turnover and an operating profit of NOK 194 million, the best cumulative profit result since 1999. In recent years the Ulstein Group has spent a great deal of time developing new products and work processes. In 2007 the Group delivered comprehensive design and equipment packages to shipowners in , and . It also built three ships, one of which, the Normand Seven, was named Ship of the Year for 2007. The Electro department has used great resources in the development of new products, but achieving revenue growth here has not been easy.
Navico Reports 2012 Profitability and Market Share
Navico — selling under the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands — announced its operational performance results for the fourth quarter and the year ending December 31, 2012. Revenue in the fourth quarter increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2011, ending the year on the same strong note as earlier quarters in 2012. Overall, the revenues for the year were up 15% to MUSD 256.0 in a flat market. This resulted in Navico increasing its global market share by around 4 percentage points, which further strengthens its position as the undisputed leader in recreational marine electronics. Tanker for Sovcomflot Delivered
STX Shipbuilding delivered the new product tanker, SKF Neva, to Sovcomflot JSÑ. The first product tanker of the series, the keel was laid on May 30, 2006. The 600 x 106 ft.-tanker is 46.520 tons dwt. Aries Maritime Takes Delivery of Tanker
Aries Maritime Transport Limited announced it has taken delivery of the second of two new products tankers it acquired from the Stena Group. Upon delivery, the 72,750 dwt 2006-built double-hulled Panamax products tanker entered into a 2.5 year bareboat charter agreement with the Stena Group at a rate of $18,700 per day, which is equivalent to a time charter rate of approximately $24,500 per day. In addition, the bareboat charter with the Stena Group has a profit sharing component with a 30 percent share for Aries.
