International multidisciplinary marine surveyors and consultants Braemar (Incorporating The Salvage Association), (Braemar SA), has published the third edition of its Guide to Hull & Machinery. The publication is primarily designed to help those with a nontechnical background and who are possibly unfamiliar with some or all of the nautical and engineering technical terms used in marine survey reports. Braemar SA launched its Guide to Hull & Machinery in 2010 and then published a second edition in 2012.

Braemar (incorporating The Salvage Association) welcomed an invited group of marine insurance professionals onto its specialist port and shipyard familiarization course in Falmouth designed to introduce participants to the technical aspects of marine surveying, investigating, reporting techniques and marine insurance. Braemar SA has been running this initiative for many years, providing background knowledge and understanding to marine insurance professionals on important aspects of ship construction, shipyard operations, and itsrepair procedures.

Braemar (incorporating The Salvage Association) is delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Gayton to the key role of Regional Director, Americas. He will take responsibility for strengthening and growing Braemar’s surveyor presence in this important region and for engaging more directly with the local New York market, focusing on its traditional hull & machinery business and also on the marine consultancy services provided to P&I clubs and marine lawyers.
