DNV GL, WindServe Ink Deal for U.S. Wind workboat

DNV GL has secured a classification contract for WindServe's new Crew Transfer Vessel.WindServe Marine, LLC (WindServe) has awarded DNV GL a contract for classification of one purpose-built offshore Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) for Ørsted North America (Ørsted). The contract covers the construction of the BMT-designed vessel, which will be the first offshore wind vessel built in the United States to class requirements.The high-speed aluminum catamaran is a custom design from the U.K.-based BMT Group (BMT), who has extensive offshore wind experience and a large portfolio of offshore wind vessels, including 49 CTVs, currently operating in Europe. The new state-of-the-art design from BMT is built specifically for U.S.

Ørsted Orders CTV Pair in the US

Orsted U.S. Offshore Wind has entered into an agreement with the offshore wind support services provider WindServe Marine LLC to construct a two purpose-built offshore crew transfer vessels (CTVs).The first CTV will be built by US Workboats in Hubert, North Carolina and used for Orsted’s Coastal Virginia offshore wind farm, followed by subsequent service on northeast projects.The second CTV will be built by WindServe’s affiliate shipyard, Senesco Marine, in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, specifically for Orsted’s and Eversource’s Revolution Wind project located off the southern New England coast.CTVs are the workboats that carry workers to and from offshore wind towers for construction…

A Boon to Shipbuilding

Having detailed instructions for each shipbuilding task and precise sequencing of the workflow is creating efficiencies and reducing rework at shipyards on the east and west coasts of the US. The work packs that Senesco Marine’s tradesmen are working from provide instructions—including checks and balances and dimensions—for each step of the process. “The person cutting the angles to go on panels has a cut sheet with instructions on how to cut every angle,” explains Joe Bush, VP Operations at Senseco Marine in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Senesco, Caddell Sign Contract for a Dry Dock

Senesco Marine, North Kingstown Rhode Island has signed a contract for the construction of a 120 x 420-ft., 7300 long ton hauling capacity Dry Dock, with Caddell Dry Dock and Repair Company, Inc., of Staten Island, NY. The announcement was made by Senesco Marine, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Tom Johnson, Vice President Business Development, “We are pleased to announce the contract award by Caddell Dry Docks & Repair Co’s. new dry dock. Steve Kalil, President of Caddell’s stated that after Senesco delivered a new dry dock in July of 2011 it was easy to execute the second new build given the quality and workmanship we experienced throughout the construction.
