Uzmar Delivers New Tug to Svitzer

Uzmar’s shipyard in Turkey has delivered a new tug to Svitzer, the towage arm of Danish shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk.The newly completed RAstar 3200-W, named Svitzer Elizabeth, was designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and will be the first Uzmar tug to be part of Svitzer’s European fleet, operating in the Port of Liverpool, England.The combination of 80+ tonnes bollard pull, escort, Fi-Fi 1, exceptional seakeeping and < 500 GT of this design has proven successful for Uzmar and Robert Allan Ltd., the designer said.

Manor's New CTV Sails on First Charter

U.K.-based marine services firm Manor Renewable Energy (MRE) said its newest crew transfer vessel (CTV), Manor Endurance, has embarked on its first charter supporting the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm, off the U.K.’s East Coast.The launch follows a year-long build and sea trials at the Manor Marine shipyard in the U.K.

Dual-fuel Escort Tug for Østensjø Rederi

The first of three new dual fuel RAstar 4000-DF class extreme escort tugs, the Dux, has been delivered to Østensjø Rederi AS by Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Gondán S.A. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd., the 40.2 meter vessel is the first of a three boat order from Østensjø for severe weather operations at Statoil's Melkøya LNG Gas terminal at Hammerfest in the extreme north of Norway. Boluda Towage and Salvage has taken delivery of the newly built VB Xaloc, the first tug of the owner’s multi-boat order from Astilleros Zamakona and first of Robert Allan Ltd.’s TRAktor 3200-V class escort tugs. RAstar 3200 for Mauritius Ports Authority

Robert Allan Ltd. has added yet another vessel to its popular RAstar 3200 Series design, this one constructed by Hong Kong’s Cheoy Lee Shipyards for the Mauritius Ports Authority. The RAstar 3200 terminal support tug, Sir Edouard, was delivered August 21, 2016 for operation in the country’s economic, cultural and administrative centre of Port Louis. The tug is named for Prof. Sir Edouard Lim Fat Kt, a well-known Mauritian personality equally noted for his contributions to the country’s growth and developmentat times of instability as for hispersonal qualities, particularly his sense of fairness in the face of injustice. The vessel has been outfitted for a normal operating crew of six.

Malaysian-built Fisheries Research Vessel for Bangladesh

The Sumber Samudra Sdn. Bhd. of Perak, Malaysia recently delivered a 37.8-meter fisheries research and survey vessel. Built for the Bangladesh Department of Fisheries, the R/V Meen Shandhani completed official sea trials in June 2015. Additional trials for the fishing gear were carried out in late 2015. With all trials complete, the vessel crews will receive training as a part of the build package. After making her delivery trip to her homeport of Chittagong, Bangladesh she will undertake fisheries research in the Bay of Bengal.

RAstar Tugs Selected Again for LNG Terminal Support

The Robert Allan Ltd. RAstar Series tugs are well proven LNG terminal support/escort tugs, in operation at major LNG facilities worldwide, including terminals in the United Kingdom, Yemen, Mexico, Indonesia, Norway, and the United States. Now Smit Lamalco has introduced five new RAstar 3400 escort tugs to the Port of Gladstone in Australia for LNG terminal support with the fifth and final vessel having just safely arrived in the Port. The five tugs SL Curtis Island, SL Quoin Island, SL Boyne Island, SL Heron Island, and SL Wiggins Island are named after local islands and will serve LNG export terminals in the Port. The tugs will be required to escort LNG carriers through an exposed channel which can be subject to adverse environmental conditions, and then assist them safely to the berths.

Tugboat 'Cabo de la Vela' an AVT 3000-Class Voith Schneider vessel designed by Robert Allan Ltd. for Carbones del Cerrejón delivered by Uzmar Shipyard, Turkey. This is the second of a two boat order from Carbones del Cerrejón for the AVT 3000 Class Tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Cabo de la Vela will join her sister vessel, the Media Luna, in Puerto de Bolivar. The AVT 3000 tugs for Cerrejón were designed to meet Cerrejón’s requirements for performance, propulsion equipment, accommodations, tank capacities and outfit.

Robert Allan Designed Tugboat Delivered to Colombia

New AVT 3000 Class Voith Schneider tugboat for Carbonnes del Cerrejón completes delivery voyage from Turkey to Colombia. The  new tugboat, Media Luna, sailed into Puerto de Bolivar, Colombia to be welcomed by other Cerrejón towing vessels providing fire monitor displays. Media Luna was constructed at Uzmar Tug and Work Boat Factory in Izmit, Turkey. This is the first of a two boat order for the AVT 3000 Class Tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. The Media Luna will replace the Riohacha as part of a Cerrejón’s fleet renewal program.

Two RAstar 3800 Tugs from Robert Allan

The Rawasi and Morooj, a pair of RAstar 3800 Class high performance terminal/escort tugs, have just entered service with their Owner, Bakri Navigation Co. Ltd. of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Both tugs were built by NGV Tech Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia. The Rawasi was delivered to the Gulf region in late October 2009, and the Morooj in January 2010. The RAstar family of tug designs represents a truly unique and significant development in offshore tug design. The hull form incorporates a significant outward flare (or sponson) on the upper hull sides.
