ClassNK Certifies its First CSMS

Classification Society ClassNK certified the Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) of NYK Group subsidiary NYK LNG Shipmanagement Ltd. and its managed LNG carrier “PACIFIC MIMOSA”. This is the first CSMS certified by the Society.ClassNK released its “Cyber Security Management System for Ships” in March 2019 which provides guidance on ensuring, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the cyber security management system of companies and ships with the goal of safe navigation.

3 Shippers Recognized for Safety Awareness

Three shipowners and ship-management companies  were  recognized by Japanese logistic major Nippon Yusen (NYK) for their original and effective implementation of measures to stimulate further safety awareness and encourage a sense of ownership among crew members.NYK held a “Brush Up on Safety Awareness” competition on July 2 and Taiheiyo Kisen Kaisha Ltd., Wilhelmsen Ship Management Sdn. First Purpose-built LNG Bunkering Vessel Delivered

ENGIE, Fluxys, Mitsubishi Corporation, and NYK have taken delivery of the world’s first purpose built liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel (LBV) from Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd., at the Yeongdo shipyard in Busan, Korea. She will run on LNG for her maiden voyage, after a few days of loading LNG delivered by trucks at the shipyard. Zeebrugge in Belgium will be the home port of the vessel, which has been named ENGIE Zeebrugge accordingly. From there, the 5,000 m3 LNG capacity LBV will supply LNG as a marine fuel to ships operating in Northern Europe. The two LNG-fueled pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) operated by United European Car Carriers will be its first customers.

NYK LNG carrier 'Lusail' rescues fishermen from the sea off the coast of Sri Lanka. Lusail was sailing from Ras Laffan, Qatar, to Yungan, Taiwan, when a crewman on deck spotted two fishermen in in the sea. The captain immediately directed the crew to initiate a rescue and even though visibility was poor because of heavy rain, the first fisherman was pulled from the water 30 minutes later. Later a second fisherman was safety taken from the water by another vessel that had responded to Lusail’s call for assistance in the rescue.

Japanese LNG Carrier Adds to Ocean Studies

NYK LNG carrier 'Broog' recognized by Japan Coast Guard for long-term contribution to oceanography by taking sea-water samples. Every year on September 12th,  the commandant of the Japan Coast Guard recognizes individuals and organizations that have made contributions to marine information services. An awards ceremony was recently held at the commandant’s room in Tokyo and attended by NYK LNG Shipmanagement Ltd. president Hiroshi Yonezawa. NYK Gets Japanese Pilots' Best Quality Ships Award

The NYK-owned containership NYK Arcadia, and the LNG carrier Pacific Eurus, managed by NYK LNG Shipmanagement, an NYK Group company, (Operator: LNG Marine Transport Limited) have received the Best Quality Ship Award for 2011 by the Japan Federation of Pilots’ Associations (JFPA). An awards ceremony was held at the Todofuken Kaikan in Tokyo and was attended by pilots from all over Japan as well as other interested  parties. A Milestone for N-KOM and Intersleek

September 2011 witnessed a milestone for International Paint and N-KOM, the Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited, Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, with the coating of three LNG vessels marking the application of 10,000 liters of Intersleek foul release technology at the new Qatar facility in less than four months since opening. Imtech: Number of Marine Service and Maintenance Contracts to 5,000

Imtech (technical services provider in Europe and on the global marine market) is observing a substantial increase in the number of marine service and maintenance contracts managed by Imtech. Recently Imtech signed a new global partnership agreement for 350 vessels operated by an international ship operator in Hong Kong, which granted Imtech a preferred service vendor status. As a result, Imtech passed the 5,000 mark for ships under various types of contract and partnership agreements. In addition, the company renewed its existing contract for the maintenance of technical infrastructure on all NAM drilling rigs in the North Sea. Imtech is also observing further growth in the number of technical conversions and renovations, for which the company gained several new orders.
