New Owners Take Over Polar King IMR Vessel

Oslo-listed offshore vessel owner GC Rieber Shipping said Tuesday it had delivered the Polar King inspection, maintenance, and repair vessel to its new owners.The delivery to new owners, who are yet to be named, comes following last week's announcement by GC Rieber that the vessel would be sold and that the proceeds would be used to repay the vessel's outstanding debt in full.The 110.6 meters long Polar King is on a charter (until September) with marine cable supplier Nexans.

GC Rieber Sells Ernest Shackleton

Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping has completed the process of redelivery and sale of the icebreaking research vessel 'Ernest Shackleton' to the new owner Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS).The redelivery of the vessel from British Antarctic Survey (BAS) marked the end of a nearly 20-year relationship between British Antarctic Survey and GC Rieber Shipping, said a press release from the operator of offshore subsea support vessels, marine seismic vessels and polar logistics and research expeditions.Ernest Shackleton was developed by GC Rieber Shipping based on decades of icebreaker experience and built at Kværner Kleven Leirvik in Norway in 1995.The vessel…

Overload test for Liebherr Heavy Lift Crane

Currently the support vessel Caballo Marango is being equipped with a Liebherr heavy lift crane, type BOS 35000, in the port of Rostock. The overload test has now been carried out and the offshore crane successfully lifted 1,100 t which is 110%  of its maximum lifting capacity. The crane, offering a maximum boom length of 102 m, was built at the Liebherr plant in Rostock within the last eight months. Forming part of the Caballo Marango’s equipment it is intended to execute future assembly and reconstruction work on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico for the Mexican service company Oceanografia.

Offshore Maritime Simulator Contract for Kongsberg

Kongsberg Maritime simulators have been selected for Maersk Training's new centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The delivery to Maersk Training Brazil Treinamentos Maritimos LTDA is under a non-exclusive frame agreement signed earlier by Kongsberg Maritime and Maersk Training. The Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator at Maersk Training Brazil will be operational in the second quarter 2013. The new simulator package includes the advanced Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator integrated with Kongsberg's K-Pos Dynamic Positioning Simulator, which will meet The Nautical Institute's class A requirements.

ABS Nautical Systems Signs Wins OSV Fleet Contract

Oceanografia S.A. de C.V., one of Mexico’s largest offshore vessel operators specializing in underwater survey, diving, pipe laying construction and maintenance operations, has signed a contract with ABS Nautical Systems to implement the NS5 Enterprise asset management software across its entire fleet of multi-purpose offshore support vessels. Six of the vessels are ABS-classed newbuilds and will utilize the Maintenance & Repair and Drawings Management modules as part of the ABS Newbuild Program, resulting in savings for software licenses, database development and consulting services of nearly $100,000. In addition, the company will also install the Purchasing & Inventory and Crew Management modules.

Mexico's Oceanografia S.A. de C.V. signs  multi-million dollar contract with Kongsberg Maritime Simulation’s Mystic, CT, USA office for supply of maritme simulators. The contract is for the supply of a suite of offshore anchor handling, Dynamic Positioning, engine room and crane simulation systems, underpinning the main infrastructure for a new world-class offshore simulation training centre to be situated at Mexico’s primary offshore supply hub for the Gulf of Mexico.

Austal Crew/Supply Boats Deliver Day-in, Day-out

Market Report: When Will the Turn Around Come?

It seems to be a soap opera without an end. "It is crazy…makes no sense at all," is a common observation. If you are in the oil and gas business, the number one question is, "When is the drilling going to pickup?" It is a question without an answer…at least through the first quarter of 2004. His vision has endured and today the company is expanding its fleet rapidly through a second and a third generation of Candies executives.
