Schlosser Joins Gnostech as VP of Innovation and Research

Gnostech, an applied engineering company specializing in cybersecurity, software development, C4ISR systems and GPS, announced it has hired James ā€œJamieā€ Schlosser as Vice President of Innovation and Research at its San Diego office.Schlosser brings over 44 years of experience in Naval Information Warfare operations and acquisition both on active duty and as a civil servant. He recently retired from Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) after more than 23 years of service.

The Coast Guard 14th District held a change of command ceremony bidding farewell to Rear Adm. Vincent B. Atkins and welcoming Rear Adm. Brian K. Penoyer, at Coast Guard Base Honolulu, Wednesday.Vice Adm. Fred M. Midgette, commander, Coast Guard Pacific Area presided over the ceremony.Penoyer has served as Atkinsā€™ chief of staff since 2016, advising the district commander on all Coast Guard missions conducted in the central and south Pacific. He is a 2015 recipient of the Coast Guardā€™s Type I Incident Commander qualificationā€¦

DMCA Discuss Marine Driving License Issuance

Maritime Security Executive Committee of the Office of H.H. the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and DMCA discuss marine driving license issuance services and MSS achievements. Discussions aimed at strengthening joint cooperation in maritime sector development. Officials from the Maritime Security Executive Committee of the Office of H.H. the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces recently visited the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and analyze the Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) and the marine driving license issuance services. 4th Annual Global Marine Renewable Energy Conference

Wednesday April 27,  Industry Development Day there will be reports and discussion about current research on MHK advancement from Sandia National Laboratories,  National Renewable Energy Laboratory; and the Department of Energy. There will also be a workshop on Government Advocacy. Thursday April 28 features industry updates from CEOs and keynotes from Paul O'Brien of Scottish Development International; Michael Bromwich, Director, BOEMRE; John Wellinghof, Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; and William Tayler, Director Shore Energy, Office of the Deputy Asst. Secretary of Navy (Energy). The day concludes  with status reports  from the International Energy Agency Ocean Energy Systems Implementing Agreement updates from participating countries.

Londonā€™s River Safeguarded

The future of the Thames as a working river has taken a major step forward with the Government giving the go ahead to the Mayor of Londonā€™s plans to protect wharves. This means the wharves recommended by the Mayor and the Port of London Authority (PLA) for protection are now legally safeguarded for cargo-handling use. The Mayor and the PLA submitted a detailed assessment of wharves in London and their future potential for handling cargo earlier this year. Central to this is use of the ā€˜safeguardingā€™ policy, which protects key riverside wharves from redevelopment into non-port use. Extra wharf capacity is needed to handle predicted increases in river borne freight.

Navy Lab Exec Retires

Executive Director James A. Fein will retire from Naval Surface Warfare Center's Carderock Division in Bethesda, Md., completing 34 years of service. The naval architect started in 1969 at what was then the David Taylor Research Center. His previous position was that of Director, Hydrodynamics Group, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) where he served as the senior technical advisor to the Navy for hydrodynamics issues related to ships, submarines and undersea weapons. Over the years, he worked for the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research and Advanced Technology, the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the Carderock Division's parent command, NAVSEA. He was also a visiting professor at the Defense Systems Management College.
