Arctia’s Vessels Get PC3 Notation

Finnish state-owned company Arctia Oy said that its vessels MSV Fennica and MSV Nordica have now both received certificates of compliance with the IMO Polar Code. Ezra Holdings Files for Bankruptcy in US

Oilfield services firm Ezra Holdings of Singapore filed for U.S. Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the weekend, blaming a prolonged slump in the energy industry, Reuters reported. Ezra  has been facing hostile actions from creditors at home and abroad as it struggles to recover from a slump in oil prices over the past three years. The company filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code, according to a stock exchange filing on Sunday. Ezra will hold an informal meeting as soon as "reasonably practicable" to update and provide further information on the Chapter 11 filing to holders of its debt, it said in a separate statement. Ezra is one of several Singapore offshore and marine services firms that have been hit by a downturn in oil prices since in 2014.

Semco Maritime, Langset to Develop Hanøytangen Yard

The two Norwegian companies enter into the agreement to cover development of the Hanøytangen yard as well as pursuing business opportunities in the oil and gas/maritime industry, primarily targeted at the North Sea and international markets. Langset AS will establish a mechanical workshop and it will move its engineering office and rope access headquarter to Hanøytangen. Langset is a provider of services to the maritime and energy sector, and Semco Maritime is a specialist in large-scale maintenance and refurbishment of offshore installations.

Viking Wins $32m Charter Contract for Drilling System

Viking Offshore & Marine Limited (Viking) which is building a portfolio of mainstream offshore, marine and drilling assets, said today that it has secured a 50-month bareboat charter for a land rig system worth approximately US $32 million. Under the contract, SGX-listed Viking’s wholly owned subsidiary Viking Asset  a Chinese land rig specialist from September 2014. The Chinese rig builder, which specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of land rigs, has secured a contract with a major South-Asian energy operator, which will deploy the rig in North-Africa. Drilling will commence immediately on oil exploration sites licensed to the joint venture of the South-Asian energy operator and the local energy authorities.

Korea's Techcross and Singapore's Keppel Sign BWMS MOU

Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) supplierTechcross sign a joint marketing & retrofit support MOU with Keppel Shipyard. Techcross say that their MOU with Keppel Shipyard is intended to value-add to the significant retrofitting market. They will be cooperating to provide expertise to ship owners, undertake joint marketing initiatives and share support services. With the 2004 International Convention by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM) nearing entry-into-force, both companies have identified the need to provide support to customers before and after ratification. The new-construction vessel market comprises of 2,500 to 3,000 vessels per year.

Bourbon Director Resigns

Christian de Chateauvieux's resignation for personal reasons accepted by the Bourbon Board of Directors. Mr. Christian de Chateauvieux has been a Director since 1990, playing a role in Bourbon’s growth and with a focus on offshore oil marine services. All members of the Board of Directors thanked him for his commitment during his term in office. Bourbon offers oil and gas companies a comprehensive range of surface and subsea marine services for offshore oil and gas fields and wind farms, based on its extensive range of latest-generation vessels. The company has two businesses (Marine Services and Subsea Services) and also protects the French coastline for the French Navy.

Bourbon Reports Q1 2012 Revenue Growth

"Bourbon is reaping the benefits of a booming market in the offshore oil & gas marine services, encouraged by the stability of the price of Brent (an average of US$ 119 a barrel in the first quarter of 2012). This quarter's business growth of 18% is in line with the Bourbon 2015 Leadership Strategy plan," announced Christian Lefèvre, Chief Executive Officer of Bourbon. The company performed well (utilization rate) despite a large number of planned class dockings: 5 in deepwater offshore, 8 in shallow water offshore, and 2 in subsea services.

N-KOM Drydock Receive First Qatargas Vessel

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) has received the first Qatargas-chartered vessel “Al Wakrah” to dry dock at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, Qatar’s new, world-class offshore and marine hub at the Port of Ras Laffan. “Al Wakrah”, which is owned by a Japanese consortium led by Mitsui O.S.K.
