Siemens Gamesa Launches 14MW Offshore Wind Turbine

Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa has unveiled a new SG 14-222 DD offshore Direct Drive wind turbine with 14-megawatt (MW) capacity.The capacity can reach up to 15 MW using the company’s Power Boost function. The turbine will have a 222-meter diameter rotor, 108-meter long blades, and a 39,000 m2 swept area.The 14 MW capacity allows one SG 14-222 DD machine to provide enough energy to power approximately 18,000 average European households every year. China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) choose Havyard 832 design for renewal supply vessel fleet, & order Havyard designs for 4 new vessels. COSL has the largest fleet of oil rigs and offshore vessels in China owning 34 drill rigs, 2 accommodation rigs, 4 module rigs and 8 land-based drill rigs as well as 75 supply vessels, 8 seismic vessels and 5 standby vessels. Havyard won this international tender in tough competition and they were chosen following an in-depth technical and commercial evaluation process made by COSL.

Drillship Contracts Worth US$4-billion Awarded to Sembcorp

Sembcorp Marine secures US$ 4.032 Billion drillship contracts from Sete Brasil. Sembcorp Marine Ltd, through Jurong Offshore Pte Ltd’s wholly-owned subsidiarieshas secured contracts from Sete Brasil Participacǒes S.A. (Sete Brasil), for the design and construction of five drillships based on Jurong Shipyard’s proprietary Jurong Espadon drillship design. In addition to the above, Sembcorp Marine had earlier in the year announced that its wholly-owned Brazilian shipyard Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz Ltda secured a US$792.5 million contract for the design and construction of a drillship with Guarapari Drilling B.V., Netherlands, a subsidiary of Sete Brasil.
