Allseas Makes Progress on Santos’ Barossa Gas Export Pipeline in Australia

Offshore installation contractor Allseas has made progress on the installation of the pipeline for Santos’ Barossa Gas Export Pipeline (GEP) project offshore Australia.Allseas’ Audacia pipelay vessel has installed her largest ever PLET in S-mode, concluding several years of in-house engineering, fabrication and testing, the Swiss-based contractor said.Due to the weight of the pipeline end termination structure, Allseas’ production crew had to install it separately to the connector head.Audacia vessels is being supported with four other vessels - Fortitude…

Jan De Nul Reels In Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Export Cable Job

Belgium-based offshore installation contractor Jan De Nul has signed the export cable contract with Ørsted for its 2.9 GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm in the U.K.Jan De Nul will be responsible for the seabed preparation, transport, installation and protection of 350 km of DC export cables connecting the wind farm to the U.K. electricity grid.For the installation and protection of the DC export cables, the company is going to deploy several vessels.Cable-laying vessels Isaac Newton and Connector will transport and install the cables…

Van Oord Christens Calypso Cable Layer

Dutch offshore installation contractor Van Oord on Saturday held a christening ceremony in Rotterdam for its new cable laying vessel Calypso."The Calypso is equipped with the latest sustainable technologies and will be a key strategic addition to Van Oord’s offshore wind fleet," Van Oord said.The vessel was christened by Ms. Inca Cerutti. She is the wife of Niek Hoek, chairman of the Supervisory Board. After the ceremony, the  christening lady and employees and guests had the opportunity to board the vessel for a guided tour.The Calypso Van Oord’s second cable-laying vessel.

'Revolutionary' Vessel Orion Joins DEME Offshore's Installation Vessel Fleet

Belgian offshore installation contractor DEME said Saturday that the "revolutionary" offshore installation vessel Orion officially joined its fleet.This next-generation vessel is equipped with a powerful 5,000-tonne crane and is designed to handle the massive turbines and foundations of the future.Amélie Michel, the spouse of  Charles Michel, President of the European Council, agreed to be the godmother of the Orion.In a traditional DEME naming ceremony, she wished ‘Orion’ and the crew a safe and successful career in the fleet.

'Largest Ever': Huge Leg Encircling Crane Installed on Jan De Nul's New Jack-Up

Offshore installation contractor Jan De Nul has informed that its newbuild offshore jack-up installation vessel Voltaire has been fitted with what it says is the world's largest leg encircling crane.The vessel, being built for offshore wind and decommissioning work, was recently launched at the COSCO Shipping Shipyard in Nantong, China.The Voltaire has been designed to install the offshore wind turbines of the future, with turbines over 270 meters high and blades 120 meters long.

DEME Offshore, Prysmian Win Largest Ever U.S. Offshore Wind Installation Deal

Offshore installation contractor DEME Offshore has said it has secured a +$1.1 billion Balance of Plant (BoP) contract for the construction of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project in a consortium with Prysmian. The contract, with a total value amounting to +$1.9 Billion, has been awarded by Dominion Energy Virginia, a subsidiary of Dominion Energy Inc., to a consortium, made up of DEME Group and Prysmian.According to DEME Offshore, the agreement is the largest offshore wind installation contract ever awarded in the U.S.

Vattenfall Awards Van Oord a 4-Year Offshore Wind Contract

Offshore wind developer Vattenfall has awarded the Dutch-based offshore installation contractor Van Oord a 4-year operations & maintenance (O&M) contract.Working through its MPI Offshore organization, Van Oord will provide jack-up and associated lifting services for main component exchanges across Vattenfall’s portfolio of offshore wind farms. Vattenfall, based in Sweden, has 10 offshore wind farms in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. During the contract period, Vattenfall's offshore portfolio will be extended to 622 turbines with a combined capacity of 2.6 GW.

All Jackets Installed at Moray East Offshore Wind Farm

Belgian offshore installation contractor DEME Offshore has completed the installation of offshore wind turbine jackets for the 950 MW Moray East offshore wind farm in Scotland.The offshore wind farm is being developed by Moray Offshore Windfarm East Ltd (MOWEL), which is a joint venture company owned by Ocean Winds ( 56.6%) Diamond Green Limited (33.4%) and CTG (10%).DEME Offshore was awarded the full EPCI scope for 100 wind turbine foundations plus three offshore substation platform foundations in December 2018.

Subsea 7 Scores 'Substantial' Offshore Wind Deal in Dutch North Sea

Germany Offshore Transmission Station Contract Awarded

Seaway Heavy Lifting contracted by Siemens AG for the transportation & installation of the German North Sea jacket & transmission station. The contractors say that the 5,800 tonnes jacket will be installed by Heavy Lift Vessel “Oleg Strashnov”. The 14,000 tonnes transmission station will be installed as a float-over with Seaway Heavy Lifting to perform the float-over operation with the assistance of its subcontractor Dockwise. The work is scheduled to be performed in 2013/2014. The transmission station SylWin Alpha will be installed in the German exclusive economic zone of the North Sea, in the so called “SylWin Alpha” clusters. MV Fairlane Completes Heavy Lift Project

In the Exmouth sub-basin, offshore Northwest Australia, Apache Energy ltd. is developing the Van Gogh oilfield on behalf of a joint venture of the same name. As part of the Vincent field, it lies in water depths of 1,115.5 to 1,214 ft. An FPSO will be used for production and storage of the oil. The FPSO will be moored to a disconnectable turret-mooring (DTM) buoy, moored to the seabed with nine anchors. Flexible flowlines, which connect to two subsea manifolds and the production wellheads, will be attached to the buoy.

MAN Diesel Engines to Power Mega Vessel

The Offshore Division of MAN Diesel, based in Frederikshavn, Denmark, has extended its phase of growth. The new order calls for the supply of generator sets with a combined output of almost 95 MW for what will be, dimensionally, the largest vessel in existence and will include working functions which also set world records in their specialist field. Moreover, the contract will also involve the first vee-configuration engines to be produced in MAN Diesel’s new four-stroke medium-speed engine series, the 560 kW per cylinder 32/44 CR with common-rail fuel-injection technology. This new mega-vessel has been ordered by the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A., an offshore installation contractor, and is a twin-hull construction with main dimensions 1,181 ft. long by 383 ft. wide.

This new mega-vessel has been ordered by the Swissbased Allseas Group S.A., an offshore installation contractor, and is a twin-hull construction with main dimensions 1181 ft. (360 m) long by 383.8 ft. (117 m) wide.
