Fugro to Convert Two More PSVs to Geotechnical Vessels

Dutch offshore survey firm Fugro has reached an agreement to acquire two platform supply vessels (PSVs), Sea Goldcrest and Sea Gull, which will be converted to geotechnical vessels to address the needs of growing offshore wind sector.The addition of the Sea Goldcrest and Sea Gull, built in 2019 and 2020 respectively, to its owned fleet will further strengthen Fugro’s ability to address the market demands and shortage in geotechnical capable vessels, the company said.With the purchase of these strategic assets Fugro will operate a balanced fleet of owned and chartered vessels…

Fugro to Convert Two PSVs to Geotechnical Vessels

Dutch offshore survey firm Fugro will convert the Fugro Resilience and the Topaz Endurance, two ULSTEIN PX121 platform supply vessels (PSVs), to geotechnical vessels, targeting their deployment in the global offshore renewable energy market.Fugro acquired the two platform supply vessels, the Topaz Endurance and the Topaz Energy (renamed Fugro Resilience), in February 2023.Ulstein Design & Solutions AS is responsible for the redesign of the two vessels, and on September 22, 2023, Fugro awarded Ulstein Verft a contract to convert the Fugro Resilience. Both vessels were built in 2015.

Sembcorp Marine Bags Offshore Wind and Ferry Projects

Oceaneering Acquires Ecosse Subsea

Houston-headquartered Oceaneering International has, through one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, acquired the Aberdeen-based Ecosse Subsea Limited for approximately GBP 50 million (US$69 Million). Headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, Ecosse builds and operates seabed preparation, route clearance and trenching tools for submarine cables and pipelines on an integrated basis that includes vessels, ROVs and survey services. Enabling technologies acquired in the transaction include Ecosse's modular SCAR Seabed System, capable of completing the entire trenching work scope (route preparation, boulder clearance, trenching and backfill), and its newly developed SCARJet trenching system.

Fjellstrand Inks Contract to Build Offshore Service Vessel

Norway's Fjellstrand AS contracted by Siem Offshore Rederi AS to construct an Ulstein SX 163 design offshore wind or oil installationl service support vessel. Main particulars of the Ulstein SX 163 are a length of 74 meters, a  beam of 17 meters, and with accommodation for 60 persons. Scheduled date for delivery is March 2014 with a contract value of approx. NOK 300 million, and with an option for one additional vessel. SeaHold GEOSHIPS expanded its fleet of multi-purpose offshore vessels. The two new vessels ‘Loch Erisort’ and ‘Loch Roag’ brings the Aberdeen-based firm’s fleet up to three, while also signifying a $140m in additional financial commitment. GEOSHIPS Acquisition, Doubling of Staff

Aberdeen-based SeaHold GEOSHIPS Limited (GEOSHIPS) has announced the acquisition of marine management services company Brooklyn Shipping Ltd (BSL). The acquisition is expected to lead to BSL’s staff numbers more than doubling to 80 this year and also contribute to a significant increase in GEOSHIPS’ pre-tax earnings on its projected turnover of nearly £50million for 2012. Formed in 2003, GEOSHIPS has a strong focus on offshore renewable energy projects, whilst also being able to offer services in support of subsea oil and gas related projects. It chartered its first multi-purpose offshore vessel, the Stril Explorer, from Mokster A/S until 31st August 2012 to support the growing offshore renewable energy market and the subsea sector.
