A.P. Møller Holding Takes Over Maersk Supply Service, Names New CEO

A.P. Møller Holding A/S has acquired offshore vessel services firm Maersk Supply Service A/S from A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S, through the closing of the previously announced transaction.In connection with the closing of this acquisition, A.P. Moller Holding has elected a new CEO and Board of Directors for Maersk Supply Service A/S. Christian M. Ingerslev will take over the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position from Steen S. Karstensen, who has been at the helm of Maersk Supply Service since 2016.

Bourbon and Horizon Join Forces to Provide Offshore Vessel Services in North Sea and Canada

Bourbon and Horizon Maritime have created a new joint venture that will offer marine services and operations in the North Sea and Canadian offshore markets.Incorporated in Norway, the new company is called Bourbon Horizon, and, according to a press release issued Thursday, it will become "a new leader in offshore operations in the harshest environments."It will be strategically positioned in Fosnavåg (Norway) and St. John’s (Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada), with a base fleet of "seven modern and capable offshore support vessels."The fleet includes five platform supply vessels…

Vattenfall Picks Island Offshore Vessel for Offshore Wind W2W in Germany

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Island Offshore, mostly known for its offshore vessel services in the Norwegian oil and gas industry, has recently won a walk-to-work contract with Vattenfall in the offshore wind sector in Germany.Island Offshore said the contract was an important one and will see its vessel Island Diligence deployed at Vattenfall-operated DanTysk and Sandbank offshore wind farms in the German part of the North Sea.Island Diligence will provide accommodation and transfer of technicians via the vessel’s gangway solution, to the wind turbines.

Rem Offshore Extends Veripos Positioning Contract

Aberdeen-based Veripos, suppliers of high-precision GNSS positioning services for offshore applications, is to provide dedicated positioning support for a number of Platform Supply vessels (PSVs) operated by Rem Offshore, the specialist Norwegian company which maintains a global fleet of ships. Headquartered in Singapore, ASL own four shipyards in Singapore, Indonesia (Batam) and China (Guangdong). They inform they have conditionally agreed to purchase for US$20-million a shipyard belonging to Miclyn Express Offshore Limited (MEO), located adjacent to its own yard in Batam, Indonesia. The Batam shipyard is  situated in a free trade zone with industrial areas designated specifically for shipyards with infrastructure such as roads, telecommunications, utilities and supporting services.

New Cardinal Division Offers 24/7 Offshore Vessel Services

Cardinal Companies International, headquartered in Alvin, Texas, has launched Cardinal Marine to provide ship repair and dockside services, offering 24/7 marine services for topside repairs with the capability to deliver support and services world-wide. The company says it mobilizes its crews to meet clients where it’s most convenient for them to berth and perform any repairs and services on-site at local ports throughout the Gulf of Mexico. This service alone initially saves the customer time and money before any services are performed.

Rigdon Marine Signs Long-Term Contract

Larry Rigdon, President and CEO of Rigdon Marine, announced the signing of a long-term contract to provide offshore vessel services in the Gulf of Mexico to Terra Seismic Services, a Norwegian oil and gas seismic company. Terra Seismic Services is the first seismic services company to deploy a unique Four Component (4C) Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) data acquisition system for the offshore environment. The system also offers improved and automated in-sea systems handling techniques. These new systems allow Terra Seismic Services to provide oil and gas companies enhanced state-of-the-art seismic data more cost effectively. Terra Seismic Services will employ the ground breaking “VectorSeis Ocean” recording and communication technology system as part of its advanced data acquisition methods.

New Debis Clearing Vessel Design

Alan C. McClure Associates (ACMA) completed its contract from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) to design and supervise the construction of a 32-ft. barge that will remove debris from the Blanco and Guadalupe rivers and their tributaries as they flow through south and southeast Texas. After establishing the capabilities that would be required to operate in this specialized environment, ACMA developed the conceptual design, recommended equipment and propulsion systems, developed bid specifications, distributed specifications to shipyards for bids, evaluated bid packages, oversaw construction and provided owner’s representation throughout the project.

The drilling rigs not only want huge volumes of mud, but they want the vessels that serve them to be able to carry several different types of liquid mud. That means two or three separate piping and pumping systems to keep the mud from cross contamination. That also increases demands for automated control and alarm systems, many of which utilize touch screen controls. The rigs also need dry bulk cement, barite and other such products, so dry bulk tanks with 6,000 or so cu. ft. of capacity would be desired.
