Caterpillar to Equip 4 AHTS for Grupo CBO

Caterpillar Marine informed that its Cat® power and propulsion solutions have been selected to power four AHTS vessels for Grupo CBO, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Each AHTS vessel will be equipped with 4 x 6 M 32 C propulsion engines rated at 3000 bkW and Cat Propulsion controllable pitch propellers. Additionally, Cat will again power the third PSV in a series for Grupo CBO with 4 x 3512C diesel electric propulsion (DEP) generator sets rated at 1700 ekW as well as 1x C18 for harbor/emergency power. The 180 ton bollard pull AHTS vessels will be designed by Hayvard Design and Solutions, using an adapted version of its 843 design.

Cat Power Solution for Teekay Offshore

Caterpillar Marine announced that Cat power and propulsion offerings have been selected to provide complete propulsion solutions for four ocean-going towing vessels designed by Ulstein Design and Solutions. Each vessel will have four 9 M 32 C propulsion engines, rated at 4,500 bkW at 600 rpm. Also onboard each vessel will be three Cat C32 auxiliary generator sets rated at 940 ekW at 1,800 rpm as well as one Cat C9 generator set to provide emergency power. All four vessels will be equipped with two AEM shaft generators rated at 3,150 ekW at 1,200 rpm.

Largest Berg Azimuth Thruster for Asian Order

Berg Propulsion has secured the first Asian reference for its Berg Azimuth Thruster (BAT), launched earlier this year, in what is also the first order to involve the product’s installation by a Chinese yard. Berg has signed a contract with Singaporean oil and gas field support and logistics contractor Teras Offshore to deliver its largest BAT units to date, in the shape of two 2,500 Kw (1,600 rpm) output BAT 730 units, as well as two BTT 519 tunnel thrusters. Berg Propulsion Singapore Production Facilities will deliver all units in August 2010 to CCCC Bomesc Marine Industry Co., Ltd. (Tianjin, China), for installation on board a 13,000 dwt deck cargo vessel, to work in combination with electric motors.
