Responders Working to Salvage Capsized Lift Boat Seacor Power
The U.S. Coast Guard is working with the Seacor Power's owner to salvage the lift boat that capsized earlier this month in the Gulf of Mexico.A unified command including representatives from the Coast Guard and Houston-based Seacor Marine engaged in-person for the salvage and wreck removal, including the removal of fuel and oil from the overturned vessel, the Coast Guard said on Tuesday.The 234-foot Seacor Power capsized in heavy seas and winds approximately 8 miles south of Port Fourchon, La., on April 13.

Brazil Gets Another Lynx
BelovEngenharia ordered a second Saab Seaeye Lynx ROV for its operations in Brazil’s vast oil fields. The six thruster 1,500-meter-rated Lynx will be used for the inspection of oil lines, risers and jackets. For line inspection, a Tritech digital precision altimeter has been fitted to maintain accurate offset from the seabed as the ROV follows the pipeline. When undertaking jacket inspection, a fitted CDL fiber-optic gyro means there is no magnetic interference from the jacket structure whilst accurately tracking the ROV’s motion.

Dresser Gets ABS Fire Rated Approval from
Dresser has been granted ABS Type Approval for fire rated couplings that meet or exceed the previous 2008 ABS rule changes. Typical applications for the ABS approved Dresser coupling include above deck inert gas lines, cargo oil lines, bilge systems, fuel oil transfers, and lube oil transfer systems. Each authentic Dresser approved coupling can be qualified to a working pressure of 19.2bar (275 PSI). Fire testing has been successfully conducted to the stringent guidelines of ISO 19921 & 19922 requirements. Derecktor Shipyards has been granted a contract by Lighthouse Landings to construct a 115 ft. (35 m) aluminum high-speed catamaran ferry to be built at the yard's Mamaroneck, N.Y. facility. The catamaran holds the distinction of being the premiere vessel in a fleet of four that will be built for a new passenger service scheduled to begin in Spring/Summer 2001 between Stamford, Conn. and New York City. The vessels' operator, Lighthouse Landings, through its operating subsidiary, New York Fast Ferries Services, Inc. (NYFF) currently provides fast commuter service between Highlands, N.J. and New York City. The new vessels will be built to a design in accordance with Nigel Gee and Associates (NGA) of Southampton, England.
