Damen Delivers Harbor Tug to Con.Tug in Italy

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a newly built harbor tug to Con.Tug in Italy. The vessel, named Gioia Star, will operate in Gioia Tauro, one of the most important transhipment ports in the Mediterranean.Con.Tug – a joint venture between Scafi and TIL – ordered the new tug from Damen in January. Damen Workboats for Fratelli Neri Fleet Expansion

Italian towing company Fratelli Neri S.p.A. has expanded its fleet with the delivery of three new Damen workboats. The trio of vessels will be based in the company’s home port of Livorno, on the Tuscan coast. Damen delivered all the vessels from stock;completing the final outfitting works within a timescale of three and a half months. This current delivery to Fratelli Neri consists of three different vessels. The first, an ASD 2913, was built at Damen Shipyards Galati. This vessel sailed from Romania to Italy on her own keel. The other two vessels – a Stan Launch 1305 and a Stan Tug 1606 – were being held on stock at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem in the Netherlands. Damen transported these two workboats to Livorno on a heavy-lift vessel.

Fratelli Neri S.p.A. Orders Three Damen Vessels

Fratelli Neri S.p.A., the family-owned, Livorno-based harbor towage company, has ordered three new Damen vessels; an ASD Tug 2913, a Stan Tug 1606 and a Stan Launch 1305, the last for its subsidiary company Labromare, which is 50% owned by Tripmare S.p.A. All three vessels will operate in and around the port of Livorno, one of the busiest in the Mediterranean Sea. Delivery will take place in November this year. This order takes to six the number of Damen vessels ordered by Fratelli Neri in the past year.

WINS takes delivery of largest PSV, "WM Pacific"

Wintermar Offshore Marine (WINS) announced having taken delivery of "WM Pacific”, the Largest Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) flying the Indonesian flag. 'WM Pacific' is our 4th and largest Platform Supply Vessel. She will be the only Indonesian flagged PSV that is equipped with Firefighting capability certified to FIFI 2 standard. She is 83m long, equipped with DP2 (Dynamic Positioning) and classification ABS + A1 (E) Offshore Support Vessel notation. She is certified to participate in search and rescue operations and has oil recovery capability and capable to transport methanol. She has 1,000m2 of deck space and her cabins can accommodate up to 58 persons. 'WM Pacific' was built in China by POET Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd.

Borgøy: the World’s first LNG-Fueled Tug

Late last year, an innovative project to design and build the world’s first LNG fuelled escort tugs became a reality when the Borgøy was handed over for sea trials by builder Sanmar in Tulza Bay near Istanbul. PMS 1386: First of Two RAstar 3200 Tugs

PM Coast Maritime Pte. Ltd. completed sea trials of PMS 1386, the first of two RAstar 3200 tugs to be built by its own shipyard in Singapore. The RAstar class of tugs is intended for operations in exposed areas such as many new LNG terminals where a high standard of sea-keeping is required. With Fi-Fi 1, oil recovery and escort notations, this particular vessel is able to fulfill a wide variety of duties in adverse conditions. The wheelhouse is designed for maximum all-round visibility with forward and aft control stations providing maximum visibility to both fore and aft deck working areas.

Spill Recovery Equipment Caps to Increase

Effective April 5, the USCG will increase the requirements for on-water oil recovery capability for tank vessel and facility response plan holders by 25 percent. The so-called response capability "caps" address the volume of equipment a plan holder is required to ensure available by contract or other approved means. The caps ? meant to facilitate the cascading of response resources to a spill scene within the first 72 hours of an incident ? do not relieve a vessel owner of the statutory responsibility to plan for and clean up a worst case discharge, defined by the OPA 90 as the loss of a vessel's entire cargo in adverse weather.
