RS Inks Tugs Deal with DAMEN
On 22 September 2015 within the frames of the 13-th International Maritime Exhibition and Conferences of Russia â NEVA 2015, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and DAMEN Shipyards Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding on construction to the RS class of four new ASD 2609 Ice tugs. Two tugs will be built at DAMEN in China, the other two - in Romania. According to Mr. Pavel Shikhov, RS Chief Operating Officer, RS has been interacting with DAMEN since 1999. As of today, the RS-classed fleet comprises over 60 ships built to DAMEN designs. 15 ships are under construction in Russia and at foreign shipyards: tugs of projects ASD 3010 Ice, ASD 2810 Ice, ASD 2609 Ice, as well as new dredging vessels, projects TSHD 1000 and TSHD 2000.
Song Thu Lays Keel for New Dredger
The construction of a new vessel of dredging fleet, project TSHD 2000, has been launched to the RS class in Da Nang, Vietnam. The keel laying ceremony was held at Song Thu Corporation shipyard November 21, 2014. It was attended by Andrey Tarasenko, General Director of FSUE Rosmorport, and Pavel Shikhov, RS Chief Operating Officer. The ship has been designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. RS class notation: KM Ice1 R1 AUT2 hopper dredger. A new vessel of dredging fleet is intended for extraction and removal of spoil, dredging of fairways, channels and roads to keep waterways safe.
Russia, Japan Hold Shipbuilding and Repair Seminar
The fourth Russian-Japanese seminar Development of Cooperation in Shipbuilding and Ship Repair, organized by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and the Japan Ship Machinery & Equipment Association (JSMEA), was held September 4-5 in St. Petersburg. More than 30 representatives from 11 Japanese suppliers of ship equipment and components took part in the seminar, along with representatives of Russian maritime industry enterprises. The seminar agenda included prospects for the construction of vessels for Russian customers, issues of access to the Russian market for novel ship equipment produced by Japanese manufacturers, and further cooperation between enterprises from the maritime sector of the two countries in the sphere of innovation.
Pskov Gas Carrier Construction Nears Completion
On August 25, 2014, the naming ceremony for the Pskov high-tech liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier was held at the South Korean shipyard STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The fourth Russian-Japanese seminar âĐĄooperation in shipbuilding and ship repairâ is to take place September 4-5, 2014. For the first time, the annual event is to be held in St. Petersburg - the maritime capital of Russia . RS Exhibits at Kormarine 2013
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) will participate in Kormarine 2013 in Busan, Republic of Korea, one of the largest international exhibitions of maritime industry. On 22-25 October the foremost exhibition of the maritime industry in Asia will gather leaders of shipbuilding industry. RS will undertake a scaled-up participation in this event. The first RS office opened in Korea in 1996 was originally oriented to render its assistance to ships in service in the first place.
RS Reaches Several Agreements at Neva
During the maritime Neva exhibition, taking place this week in St Petersburg, Russia, a number of agreements were signed promoting use of advanced IT solutions and enhancement of professional training within the maritime industry. Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Sea and River Fleet, classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), Petrobalt Design Office and the Dutch company Numeriek Centrum Groningen (NCG) signed a quadripartite agreement on the establishment of NUPAS-CADMATIC Training and Innovation Center. RS, NAPA Strengthen Cooperation
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), an IACS-member classification society and NAPA, a leading software house for ship design and operation today announced that RS will take NAPA software into use to be able to better serve their customers. Further expansion of RS presence on new and traditional markets demands first-class software tools to enhance clientâs satisfaction. Shipyards, design offices and engineering companies require their drawings and calculations being reviewed and assessed by Class in shorter time with no compromise on quality and safety. NAPA software facilitates achievement of these goals. During design review of a newbuilding project or during existing ship modernization RS will use NAPA to assess and approve various calculationsâŚ
ClassNK Opens First Russian Office
ClassNK opened its first exclusive surveyor office in St. Petersburg on September 14 with a lively reception hosted by ClassNK Chairman and President and Current IACS Vice-Chairman Noboru Ueda. The event was attended by more than 80 guests including executives and representatives from throughout the Russian maritime industry. Among the many prominent dignitaries at the event were His Excellency Ichiro Kawabata, Consul General of Japan in St. Petersburg, IACS Council Chairman Pavel Shikhov, Vladimir Alexandrov, President of the St. Petersburg Shipbuilders Association, and numerous top representatives from academic institutions such as CNIIMF.
