Pemamek Develops New Semi-narrow Groove Welding Solution

Pemamek LLC, a North American subsidiary of Finland-based Pemamek Ltd., has developed an automated semi-narrow groove welding solution with proven success in welding exceptionally thick plates ranging in size from 2 inches to 6.5 inches. Called Semi-Narrow Gap Welding, this SAW process uses significantly less consumables over the length of the operation resulting in a strong bond in less time and with fewer costs.Based on submerged arc welding (SAW), the LSO process employs a welding head equipped with 5/32-inch wires.

Ingalls Orders Automated Shipyard Equipment

Mississippi-based Ingalls Shipbuilding has formalized a future working collaboration with Pemamek Ltd. as the shipyard placed an order for automated PEMA Bulkhead production line. The agreement is a continuum for the large-scale PEMA welding automation solutions delivered in 2017.PEMA Bulkhead production line will be delivered as a turnkey installation. Ingalls Shipbuilding Acquires Automated Welding Solution

Pemamek Ltd. is delivering high-tech PEMA welding automation to Mississippi-based Ingalls Shipbuilding’s Pascagoula shipyard. The extensive and technologically advanced automation solutions provide Ingalls improved panel production and enhanced work flow. Mississippi-based Ingalls Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of the Huntington Ingalls Industries, kicked off its “Shipyard of the Future” initiative in 2014. The multiyear initiative includes investments in modern infrastructure and manufacturing equipment, as well as technologically advanced procedure and processes.

Meyer Turku Boosts Shipyard Investment

Meyer Turku shipyard said it will more than double its investments from €75 million ($89.6 million) to €185 million ($221 million) as it aims to boost steel production to fulfill its record order book stretching into 2024. The investments include a new plate cutting line, a new profile cutting line and a new panel line to the steel halls to be ready by end of 2018/start of 2019. Pemamek Wins Contract

Pemamek Oy Ltd was recently awarded a contract of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, construction and delivery of a micro panel line. Commissioning in early 2013, the new modern micro panel line replaces the existing one. This new line will increase the shipyard’s productivity and therefore improve Aker Philadelphia Shipyards positioning at the market. Additionally, Pemamek Ltd contracted a yearly maintenance contract for the equipment and software for fully support in periodical maintenance and so enabling continuous production.
