Huisman Crane for Penta-Ocean's Wind Turbine Installation Rig

Dutch offshore equipment manufacturer Huisman has signed a contract with PaxOcean Engineering for the delivery of a 1,600mt Leg Encircling Crane. The crane will be installed on the new self-elevated platform (SEP) of Japanese company Penta-Ocean Construction, which ordered the unit from PaxOcean earlier this year.With this Huisman crane, the new jack-up unit will be capable to install 12 MW wind turbines and various foundations including monopiles. The jack-up rig will be built by PaxOcean Engineering in Batam, Indonesia.

PaxOcean to Build Jack-up for Japanese Firm

PaxOcean, Singapore-based builder focused on offshore rigs, semi-submersibles and specialized offshore vessels, has signed a contract with Japanese general contractor Penta-Ocean Construction to construct a self-elevating platform (SEP) for use in the offshore wind sector in Japan.Scheduled for completion in Q3 2022, the SEP is of a GustoMSC design, equipped with four tubular legs and four azimuth thrusters.According to a press release from the subsidiary of Kuok Singapore Limited, it is fitted with a 1,600-tonne leg encircling crane, a large clear deck area of approximately 3,800 sqm, with accommodation designed for 80 persons.Chief Executive Officer of PaxOcean Holdingsā€¦

Japanese Trio Orders Wind Turbine Installer

Penta-Ocean Construction, Kajima Corporation, and Yorigami Maritime Construction have agreed to jointly construct a wind farm installation vessel capable of installing foundations and turbines with a capacity of between 10MW and 12MW.The three Japanese companies have ordered a jack-up vessel with a 1600-tonne lifting capacity for work in the domestic offshore wind sector.The multipurpose self-elevating platform (SEP) ship holding company will be established as a subsidiary of Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. and it will be operated jointly by the three companies.In light of the enactment of relevant regulations which promote offshore wind power generation in the general sea areas in addition to the port and harbor areasā€¦

Singapore Starts Tuas Terminal Phase 2

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced that reclamation work for Tuas Terminal Phase 2 began ysterday (4 July), with the installation of the first caisson.Singaporeā€™s next-generation trade hub has commenced at a ceremony attended by Dr. Lam Pin Min, Singaporeā€™s Senior Minister of State for Transport and Health.MPA awarded the Tuas Terminal Phase 2 reclamation project to Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd/Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd/Boskalis International BV (PHB) Joint Venture in 2018. This is the largest of the four phases to be reclaimed at 387 hectares. The 8.6 km wharf structure will be constructed with 227 caissons that will be fabricated on site. All container operations in Singapore will be consolidated at Tuas Terminal by the 2040s.

Singapore Awards Another $1.1 Bln for Mega-port Project

Singapore on Wednesday announced a $1.1 billion plan to expand and modernize its port, the world's second-biggest, but which is in fierce competition with several Chinese harbors including Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said it has awarded a project worth S$1.46 billion ($1.10 billion) for the second phase of its Tuas Terminal port development to a joint venture of firms, including Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Construction.Other companies in the joint venture include Japan's Penta-Ocean Construction Co Ltd and Boskalis International from

Boskalis to Build Singapore's First Polder

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said it has received a Letter of Award from the Housing & Development Board of Singapore for the development of a polder at the north western tip of Pulau Tekong. The contract value for the joint venture with Penta Ocean Construction Company is approximately EUR 800 million of which Boskalis' share is approximately EUR 400 million. Boskalis and its partner will be responsible for building the required dike closures and reinforcement of the existing dike to create a 10 kilometers long dike, the drainage of the reclamation area and extensive dry earthmoving activities to create Singapore's first polder.

Reliability boost for Cutter Dredger Cassiopeia V

Wärtsilä will provide extensive technical support and advisory services for Singapore-based large cutter dredger Cassiopeia V. The five-year Technical Management Agreement includes Dynamic Maintenance Planning (DMP) and is complemented by Advanced Technical Support to ensure the reliability and availability of the vessel. The cooperation between Wärtsilä and Cassiopeia Five Pte Ltd, which owns and operates the vessel Cassiopeia V, began in 2015 with Wärtsilä's Advanced Technical Support. The Advanced Technical Support (ATS) covers extensive proactive technical information, service and advice to the ship crew by a dedicated Wärtsilä Services team. The new agreement expands the partnership between Wärtsilä and Cassiopeia Five Pte Ltd.

Van Oord Consortium Awarded Singapore Port Expansion

Van Oord has in consortium been awarded work associated with the expansion of the Singapore Tuas Mega Port development. Jurong Town Corporation awarded the reclamation project of Tuas Finger One to the consortium, comprising of Hyundai, Samsung, Penta Ocean, Van Oord and Boskalis. The total contract value is SGD 960 million and the combined Van Oord/Boskalis share is approximately EUR 100 million. It is expected that the majority of the 24.5 million cubic meters of sand required for this project will be supplied by long distance bulk carriers. In addition to the land reclamation work, the consortium will undertake dredging and construct 3.4 kilometers of quay wall. Work is set to start within the next couple of weeks and will last until late 2018. www.vanoord.com

Cutter Suction Dredger Launched in Singapore

On Monday, October 7, Cutter Suction Dredger Cassiopeia V was launched by ASL shipyard in Singapore for Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd from Japan. VOSTA LMG is responsible for delivery of the engineering and the dredging equipment. The Cassiopeia V is a self propelled Cutter Suction Dredger equipped with three dredge pumps, flexible spud carrier system, anchor booms, barge loading installation and a traveling deck crane. It is diesel electric driven and propelled by means of two azimuth thrusters.

Landmark Bridge Opens in Singapore
