Thales to Equip Polish Navy's MIECZNIK Frigates with Combat Management System and Sensors

Thales said Thursday it would equip the Polish Navy MIECZNIK (Swordfish) frigates with the TACTICOS combat management system, sonars, infrared sensor, and radars, providing the warships with multiple functions for detection, identification, command and control, and decision-making. Kongsberg to Equip Three Polish Navy Warships with Hugin AUVs

Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract award with Polish shipbuilder Remontowa Shipbuilding SA (RSB) to supply three shipsets of Kongsberg Hugin Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems and related HiPAP positioning and communication systems for three newbuild warships for the Polish Navy.The total contract value exceeds €10 million, with the Kongsberg equipment planned for the next three ships in the Kormoran II Mine-Countermeasures (MCM) vessel program (#4, #5, and #6).These three ships will be delivered between 2026 and 2027.

Poland Selects Babcock's Arrowhead 140 Design for New Frigate Program

Babcock International said Friday it had been selected as the platform design provider and technology partner for Poland’s MIECZNIK (Swordfish) new frigate program.The company on Friday also concluded a set of strategic cooperation agreements with the PGZ-MIECZNIK Consortium, which is responsible for the delivery of the project from the Polish side.The Polish Armaments Agency selected Babcock’s Arrowhead 140 (AH140) from three different platform design proposals provided by the PGZ-MIECZNIK Consortium.

Babcock Sells Frigate Design Licence to Indonesia

Aerospace, defense and security company Babcock said it has secured the first export contract for its Arrowhead 140 (AH140) frigate through a design license agreement with PT PAL Indonesia (Persero), a state-owned enterprise that builds and maintains ships for military and commercial use from its facilities in Surabaya, Indonesia. Hensoldt UK announcde the supply of Kelvin Hughes Mk11 X Band SharpEye navigation radars to two Polish Navy Kormoran II-class minehunters. ORP Albatros and ORP Mewa were built by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland.Installed in conjunction with an OSI Maritime Systems integrated navigation bridge system, the radar will be tasked with navigation and surface surveillance functionality, providing the Polish Navy with solid state radar sensors to ensure safety of navigation whilst providing advanced small target search capability.

Remontowa Delivers Tug for the Polish Navy

Polish shipbuilder Remontowa Shipbuilding said it recently delivered the fourth in a series of six tugboats for the Polish Navy.The vessel, H-12 Semko, was built in Gdańsk and sailed to Świnoujście for handover to the 8th Vice Admiral Kazimierz Porębski Coastal Defense Flotilla.The contract for the design and construction of six tugs was signed in June 2017. The workboats will be used by the Polish Navy for military and logistics operations support at sea and in ports, as well as for technical evacuations, personnel transfers, search and rescue operations and oil spill recovery.

SCHOTTEL Equips Six Polish Navy Tugs

Bolko, the first of a total of six multi-role tugs built by Remontowa Shipyard in Poland has recently been delivered to the Polish Navy. Further five tugs – Gniewko, Mieszko, Semko, Leszko and Przemko – are scheduled for delivery in the near future. Each of the ASD tugs is equipped with two SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP 360 FP. They will be used for military and logistic operations support at sea and in ports.The propulsion system of the Navy tugs consists of two ice-classed SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP 360 with 2.0 m fixed pitch propellers.

OSI Inks Deal with Polish Navy

OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) has entered in to a strategic partnership with PGZ Stocznia Wojenna Shipyard (PGZ SW) (Gdynia, Poland). Saab Inks RBS15 Mk3 teaming Deal with MESKO

Defence and security company Saab has signed a teaming agreement with the Polish defence company MESKO, a member of Polish Armament Group (PGZ), for the long-term maintenance and support of the Polish Navy's RBS15 Mk3 surface-to-surface missile system. Contracted in 2006, the RBS15 Mk3 is in service on-board the Polish Navy's Orkan-class fast attack craft. The teaming agreement, which was signed in September at the International Defence Industry Exhibition, in Kielce, Poland, is a long-term agreement with the goal to strengthen the co-operation between Saab and MESKO. It is also to establish a centre of maintenance and support in Skarzysko-Kamienna, Poland for the RBS15 missiles, which in turn will increase the efficiency of the RBS15 Mk3 maintenance for the Polish Navy.

Having acquired SeeTrack Military earlier this year, SeeByte’s team trained two engineers from GUT and two members of Poland’s naval staff, including Lieutenant Adam Polak of the Polish Naval Academy, at SeeByte’s headquarters in Edinburgh.

GE Powers Polish Navy

GE Marine reports that its LM2500 gas turbine will be used to power the Polish Navy’s next generation Type 621 corvette, to be named Gawron. The LM2500 gas turbine will be applied in a combined diesel and gas turbine configuration, with two diesel engines. GE’s LM2500 gas turbine currently powers the Polish Navy’s Gen. K. Pulawski frigate. The gas turbine for the Gawron will be manufactured at GE Marine’s Evendale, Ohio facility. The LM2500 will be placed into a propulsion module by Avio of Torino, Italy. Avio, a GE partner, will also design and supply the LM2500 module electronic control system. The new corvette will be built by Poland’s Gdynia Shipyard, Warsaw, Poland. Installation of the gas turbine module is slated for June 2008.
