Evergreen Containership Still Aground Near Baltimore

The Ever Forward containership is currently grounded in the Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, according to the U.S. Coast Guard, nearly a year after another ship run by the same company blocked the Suez Canal for six days.The containership is operated by Evergreen Marine Corp Taiwan Ltd 2603.TW, the same Taiwanese transportation company that operates the Ever Given.

Taiwan’s Evergreen Resume Traffic in Iran's Shahid Rajaee Port

Taiwan’s Evergreen Marine Corp. has authorized one of its huge container ships to berth at Shahid Rajaei port in southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, reports Press TV. Ebrahim Idani, director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department, was quoted by Iranian media as saying on Tuesday that the fifth-generation container ship, Ever Legion, has started its journey from China’s Shanghai port and will call at various ports in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates’ Jebel Ali Free Zone before berthing at Shahid Rajaei port, which is Iran's biggest container port. The official noted that the Taiwanese ship is 335 meters long with a draft of 14.5 meters and is scheduled to arrive at Shahid Rajaei port on August 5.

Port Of Felixstowe First Choice For Evergreen

The Port of Felixstowe has welcomed the first call at the UK’s largest container port of Evergreen’s CES (China Europe Shuttle) service. The 8,452 TEU Ever Laden launched the service from the Port of Britain in late May. The CES Service links North Europe to Asia with calls in Taiwan as well as China. The service has recently been calling at ports in continental Europe only. Commenting on the decision by Evergreen to introduce a UK call at Felixstowe, Clemence Cheng, Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited Chief Executive Officer, said, “The decision by Evergreen to call at the Port of Felixstowe underlines our position as the port of choice for container lines in the UK.

Steady as she goes for Evergreen

Ever Steady, the latest in a series of ten 7,024 TEU S-type vessels being built for Evergreen in Japan, has taken to the water for the first time. It was launched at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Kobe shipyard on August 22 at a ceremony hosted by Vice Group Chairman of Evergreen Group and Chairman of Evergreen Marine Corp, Chang Kuo-Cheng (K C Chang), and is due for delivery in December 2006, scheduled to enter service on the HTW service linking Southern China, Hong Kong and Taiwan with the West Coast of North America. Ever Steady is the sixth vessel in this series. Four have already entered service with the Evergreen Group’s UK affiliate Hatsu Marine Ltd and the fifth, Ever Superb, is due for delivery at the end of this month.

Mitsubishi launches Ever Spring

Ever Spring is the fifth in a series of ten S-types being built for the Evergreen Group by Mitsubishi. Three have already been delivered to the Evergreen Group’s UK affiliate Hatsu Marine Ltd and a fourth, Hatsu Smile, is due for delivery at the beginning of June. The honor of cutting the ceremonial rope sending the traditional bottle of champagne against its bow to launch and send Ever Spring on her way down the slipway was given to Mr K C Chang’s wife, Mrs Tseng Chiung-Hui. The Evergreen Group is taking delivery of 18 large post-Panamax containerships over the period 2005 to 2008 – ten S-types and eight 8063TEU C-types – allowing the Group companies to upgrade existing services and phase out older vessels.
