Gallery: Petrojarl Banff FPSO Arrives in Denmark for Recycling

Teekay's Petrojarl Banff FPSO completed its final voyage on May 8, 2021, and is now moored alongside the Modern American Recycling Services Europe A/S (MARS) quayside in Frederikshavn, Denmark in preparation for recycling.The decommissioned FPSO, which ceased production in the U.K. North Sea in 2020, had been moored at Kishorn Port on the northwest coast of Scotland since September 2020. The tow of the FPSO from the Kishortn Port to Frederikshavn started on May 2, ending on May 8.The Banff FPSO had been producing oil for CNRI at the Banff and Kyle fields…

Petrojarl Banff FPSO to Be Recycled in Denmark

M.A.R.S. Europe said it has been awarded a contract by Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. for dismantling and recycling of the Petrojarl Banff floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO). The deal includes engineering, preparation, dismantling and green recycling of the long-serving floater.Teekay's Petrojarl Banff FPSO is expected to arrive at M.A.R.S. Europe’s EU-approved facility in the Port of Frederikshavn, Denmark prior to the end of Q1 2021.The decommissioned FPSO, which ceased production in the U.K.

Stena Oil Rolls Out Scandinavia's Largest Bunkering Terminal at Frederikshavn

Stena Oil has signed an agreement to create a new marine fuel terminal in the Port of Frederikshavn. The facility will be fully adapted for the new Sulphur Directive 2020 and its location will reduce the distances travelled by bunkering vessels. The oil terminal will be the largest of its kind in Scandinavia, with a capacity of 75 000 cubic metres. "We are delighted to be developing our business in Frederikshavn. We will create a state-of-the-art terminal that can handle all fuel types that meet the IMO’s global sulphur directive, which comes into effect in 2020. In combination with our Gothenburg terminal, we will have the capability to serve our customers even better. We are also investing in a new bunkering vessel.

Bunker Oil Stock Increase at Baltic Sea Entrance Port

Frederikshavn Harbour and Nordic Marine Oil have entered a strategic agreement to establish a tank farm at the port of Frederikshavn with at least 20,000 cubic meters with the possibility of further extension. The tank system to be used as storage of fuel for ships in the port of Frederikshavn and the ships passing by in the Kattegat, and will be ready in the 2nd half of 2014. "Nordic Marine Oil has a goal to establish itself further in the bunker market around the entrance to the Baltic region.

Bio-Marine Fuel Refinery Planned for Denmark

The Port of Frederikshavn, Steeper Energy and Aalborg University have partnered to establish what they claim is the world’s first biomass-based plant in Denmark to produce a sustainable sulphur-free marine fuel that will serve over 100,000 vessels passing through the port annually. The Danish Minister for Trade and European Affairs Nick Hækkerup welcomes the new partnership: “This is a great example of a public-private partnership with a huge potential both for the environment and for business and job creation. I am very satisfied that a Canadian company like Steeper taps into the strong Danish bioenergy cluster and cooperates with Aalborg University on the development of new sustainable energy solutions.
