Höegh LNG in Talks to Supply More Regasification Vessels to Europe

Norway's Höegh LNG is in talks to supply more of its floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) to several European countries seeking alternatives to Russian gas, its CEO said.The sharp drop in piped Russian gas exports to Europe in the wake of the Ukraine war has resulted in a dash for FSRUs to allow diversification with liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports.Höegh LNG has already committed five vessels, half of its FSRU fleet, to European projects, and combined they will provide 25-35 billion cubic meters (bcm) per year of regasification capacity next year, Erik Nyheim said in an intervi

Maritime Craft Services takes delivery of MCS Pampero

A Scottish maritime company has taken delivery of a second Twin Axe Design offshore wind farm support vessel. MCS Pampero, sister vessel to MCS Sirocco which joined the fleet in June, was handed over to Maritime Craft Services in Singapore and will go straight to work in NW Europe from mid-December. They join crew transfer vessels MCS Zephyr and MCS Maestro South Boat catamarans which were acquired last year. Tow Completed 'MSC Flaminia' Anchored

'MSC Flaminia' & accompanying vessels safely reach Jade Weser Port in Germany. MSC FLAMINIA and its accompanying vessels have arrived safely at Jade Weser Port in Wilhelmshaven. The arrival at the port was without any exceptional occurrences. Earlier the fire-stricken container ship had anchored off Heligoland for a further safety inspection, which confirmed that a secure and hazard-free continuation of its voyage to Wilhelmshaven was possible. The search for the still missing crewmember and the investigations into the cause of the fire will commence as soon as possible. These investigations will approximately last for one week and after that the unloading of the vessel can be started.

The casualty is under tow towards British territorial waters & permission to enter, thence transit towards German port of Wilhelmshaven. MSC FLAMINIA and its accompanying tug boats FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION (Fairmount Marine) and ANGLIAN SOVEREIGN (L.P. Knight) are bound for a position 40 nm south of the western-most point of the UK, Land's End. On arrival at that position a team of experts consisting of dangerous goods specialists, chemists and salvage experts will conduct a safety inspection onboard the vessel. Together with experts from the UK, France and the Netherlands its condition and its cargo will be reviewed to ensure a safe passage through the English Channel.

New German Deepwater Container Port at Wilhelmshaven

New Jade-Weser-Port container hub, Wilhelmshaven set to become Germany's only deep water port Wilhelmshaven has is the largest German import terminal for crude oil, with pipelines supplying refineries in the Rhine-Ruhr region and Hamburg, and also a major handling location for goods such as petroleum products, coal and chemical products. Soon the city will have a new container port, with depths of 18 m, with the ability to handle Maersk's 'Triple-E' class container ships at any state of the tide. The port, which is costing more than 1.0 billion euros ($1.25 billion) mostly from the regional state of Lower Saxony, is scheduled to open for business on August 5.

FGS BREMEN has commenced her tour of duty patrolling the waters of the Gulf of Aden and Horn of Africa as the tenth ship of the EU NAVAL FORCE (EU NAVFOR). Having left her home port of Wilhelmshaven on 7th May BREMEN arrives on station after a 14 day transit. Originally designed as a submarine hunter BREMEN is now equipped as a multi-role vessel equally capable in the roles of escort and maritime protection as anti air and surface warfare. The crew of roughly 220 is extremely well prepared, with many having deployed previously on the EU NAVFOR mission.

Port of Hamburg Expects Moderate Growth

With 110 million tons of sea-borne cargo handled in 2009, a year impacted by the global economic and financial markets crisis, Germany’s biggest universal port fell short of the previous year’s result by around 30 million tons (- 21.4 percent). Improvements are in sight for the year 2010, and port-related industries anticipate a moderate level of growth. Claudia Roller, Chairwoman of Port of Hamburg Marketing Association presented the cargo-handling figures for 2009 at the annual Port of Hamburg press conference. “With a total transshipment volume of 110.4 million tons in what was a difficult year for the entire port-related industries and shipping sector, we recorded an exceptionally severe decline in the history of our port to date.
