Honda Unveils V8 Outboard Engine

Oldendorff Orders Shaft Power Torque Meters

BMT Bags Contracts from Samsung Heavy Industries

BMT Group’s fleet and vessel performance management company BMT SMART said it has secured a contract with shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to supply vessel performance monitoring systems for four very large crude carriers (VLCC) being built for a Greek ship owner. This latest contract comes on the back of current orders already received from SHI for seven vessels (Suezmax and Aframax tankers) for Norwegian and Singapore owners, BMT said. Minerva Marine Turns to BMT for Monitoring

BMT SMART (BMT), the specialist fleet and vessel performance management company of BMT Group, has announced the successful installation of its vessel performance monitoring system on board two of Minerva Marine’s chemical tankers, MINERVA LEO and MINERVA TYCHI. For the most accurate Performance Management, the BMT SMART system combines data collected automatically on-board, from the navigation and automation systems, with data only available on shore, such as accurate Hindcast Metocean data.

Ecoships Claims 15% Ship Efficiency Gain

Ecoships introduced a customized version of the Six Sigma DMAIC approach to process and performance evaluation in order to optimize the energy-efficiency of the vessels under its management. Mermaid Kohler Range to Be Launched

Mermaid Marine is to launch a new range of diesel engines, the Mermaid Kohler. The partnership between U.K. diesel engine marinizer Mermaid Marine and Kohler expands Poole based Mermaid Marine’s offering to smaller inboard engines with the company now able to supply engines from 31kW to 376kW. It has come about through Mermaid Marine’s parent company, Power Torque’s work with JCB which has partnered with Kohler’s Global Power Group to use the Italian manufactured engines in several of its compact machine lines in what the company terms the next stage of its engine strategy.

The new BF250 horsepower (hp) four-stroke engine, the most powerful outboard ever to join the Honda Marine lineup, is also the company’s flagship model. Incorporating a number of advanced technological innovations that contribute to the engine’s high fuel economy and superior performance, the 3.6-liter engine is additionally equipped with an all-new gear case, the world’s first marine direct air dual circuit induction system of its type (providing for cooler, denser air for better combustion than conventional under-cowl induction systems) and has a full-throttle rpm range of 5,300-6,300.
