Solstad Offshore has won a contract for the construction support vessel Normand Tonjer.The Norwegian offshore vessel owner said the new two-year firm contract would keep the vessel busy until October 2023. Flaring and venting in the Permian Basin has stabilized in the range of 600 million to 650 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd), according to Rystad Energy’s preliminary data for the third quarter of 2019.Venting is gas release without combustion, whereas flaring is the burning of excess capacity. Energean Oil and Gas announced that first steel was cut on the Karish and Tanin floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel at the COSCO yard in Zhoushan, China, on Monday. The FPSO is scheduled to be delivered to the Karish field offshore Israel in late 2020, ahead of first production in the first quarter of 2021.The FPSO, which will be installed 90 kilometers offshore, will be the first FPSO to operate in the Eastern Mediterranean. TechnipFMC said it has been awarded a contract by Woodside to upgrade the Pluto Platform Offshore for water treatment, located offshore Western Australia.The contract includes the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of the Pluto Water Handling Module. Van Oord has been awarded two contracts by international contractor Subsea 7. The assignments include the construction of a landfall and the execution of subsea rock installation works in Egypt. The projects are part of the West Nile Delta project, which comprises the development of a series of gas fields, located 65 km off the northern coast of Egypt. Final client is oil and gas company BP. Preparations on site have already started. The landfall scope of work consists of the installation of a cofferdam, trenching and pipe pull activities and will be executed in 2017. The landfall location is at the Burrulus terminal near Idku, 50 km from Alexandria. Van Oord will deploy a trailing suction hopper dredger, backhoe dredger and 600 tonnes winch.

Norway's Statoil does not expect European gas prices to fall much further as rising demand from the power generation sector would offset an expected increase in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply, company officials said on Wednesday. The majority state-owned Statoil, Europe's second largest gas supplier after Russia's Gazprom, sold a record 85 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas in 2015. LNG supply to Europe is expected to rise as new liquefaction plants in the U.S. and Australia ramp up production. "LNG could potentially put pressure on prices, but then the demand will kick in and balance this," Olav Kolbeinstveit, Vice President, Market Analysis, told Reuters. "In the short-term there can be some pressure, but over time prices can't fall much more lower than they are now," he added.

Libra Consortium has signed a letter of intent with Odebrecht/Teekay (OOG-Teekay), winner of a tender process, for the charter of a FPSO-type platform (floating production, storage and offloading) designed for the extended well test campaign of Libra, in the Santos Basin pre-salt deposits. The delivery of the FPSO and the start-up of the first extended well test are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2016. The plan is to conduct tests in several areas of the block, in order to evaluate the production performance and acquire information about the Libra area. Based on these data, future definitive production systems will be later designed. For each of these tests, two wells will be connected to the FPSO: one oil producer and one gas injector.

Wärtsilä say they are to supply a 62 MW topside power module solution for a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to be deployed at the Kraken oilfield located in the U.K. sector of the North Sea. This EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) award comes from Armada Kraken Pte.Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malaysia based international offshore oilfield services provider, Bumi Armada. Bumi Armada will be using a recently built Suezmax tanker for the FPSO conversion, which will have a storage capacity of 600,000 barrels.

The U.S. Patent Office has awarded Siemens Water Technologies a patent for a system and method to control biofouling of filters used as a first stage of treating ballast water in its SeaCURETM Ballast Water Management System. The patent, entitled “Method and System for Biofouling Control of Shipboard Components" (U.S. patent no. 8,591,740 B2), involves injection of biocide into ballast seawater before it reaches the large surface filter intakes to reduce the growth of marine organisms that can clog the filters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the liberalization of exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to the document, two new categories of license holders are entitled to the right to export LNG, in addition to Gazprom, reports Arctic-Info. The authorisation gives the right to export LNG to license holders of subsoil resources of federal importance, which are licensed for construction of an LNG plant or transportation of produced gas for liquefaction to such a plant as of January 1, 2013.

Dana Gas, a regional private sector natural gas company in the Middle East, announced a successful bid in the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company 2012 International Bid Round that took place on April 18, 2013. The Company has also been prequalified as a non-operator in Lebanon’s first Offshore Licensing Round. The Company was awarded 100% working interest in the North El Arish Offshore (Block 6) concession area. The area is located offshore Nile Delta, in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, in water depths of up to 1,000 meters and covering an area of 2,980 km². The concession has an eight year exploration period comprised of three phases starting with an initial four year exploration period and two additional two year extension periods.

ConocoPhillips ships third LNG cargo from Alaska to Japan. ConocoPhillips (COP) has shipped a third cargo of liquefied natural gas to Japan from the only U.S. LNG plant permitted to sell domestically produced fuel to the Asian country, reports Bloomberg. ConocoPhillips’ license allows it to sell U.S.-produced gas to countries with which the nation has no free trade agreement. KBR awarded FEED for FPSO topsides and hull, Luanda Office to play major role in supplying local content. KBR announce that it has been awarded a FEED contract to perform work for the topsides and hull associated with a new-build, double-sided, single-bottom hull Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO will be located offshore Angola and FEED is scheduled to start immediately, with a duration of 12 months. KBR’s scope covers the permanently moored FPSO using a spread mooring system. The vessel will be capable of storing a minimum of 1MM BBLS and housing 130 persons on board. The topsides will utilize a single train designed to process 80,000 barrels of oil per day and 90 million standard cubic feet per day at an export pressure of 3,500 psi.

DNV has developed a new pipeline concept, called X-Stream, that can significantly reduce the cost of a deep- and ultra-deepwater gas pipeline while still complying with the strictest safety and integrity regime. X-Stream is based on established and field-proven technologies which have been innovatively arranged. X-Stream can reduce both the pipeline wall thickness and time spent on welding and installation compared to deep-water gas pipelines currently in operation. The exact reduction in the wall thickness depends on the water depth, pipe diameter and actual pipeline profile.

The Module, which is powered by a Wärtsilä 18V32DF dual-fuel engine, will burn produced gas. Currently being converted into an FPSO vessel from a VLCC tanker at the Jurong shipyard in Singapore, Berge Hus is destined for operation on the Ceiba oil field off Equatorial Guinea. Oil was reached in the Ceiba field by another Bergesen FPSO vessel, the Sendje Berge, in November 2000. The sister ship Berge Hus will take over work on that field in the first quarter of 2002 to complete the planned 10 production wells and four water injection wells, and continue handling the crude oil produced from the field.

According to UPI, Russia's first offshore oil and gas platform, LUN-A, is in operation in the sea of Okhotsk on the Sakhalin Shelf. The platform will be used to drill 27 wells and the produced gas will be transported over a 497-mile pipeline to a liquefied natural gas plant being built in the settlement of Prigorodnoye south of Sakhalin, ITAR-TASS news agency reported.
