H2Carrier Names New Chief Commercial Officer

H2Carrier announced that Michael Kristensen has joined the company as chief commercial officer. His main focus short term will be business development and contributing to maturing H2C’s current portfolio of energy projects.Kristensen has worked for 30 years in the maritime and energy sectors in different positions and for companies such as J. Lauritzen, NYK, Alcatel Submarine Networks, Axis Offshore and Prosafe. Kristensen worked as COO in Axis offshore for five years before the company was sold by HitechVision to Prosafe in 2017.

Two Week Contract Extension for FPSO in Nigeria

FPSO leasing company BW Offshore has signed a short-term extension for its Abo FPSO.The extension was signed with Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd, a subsidiary of the Italian oil firm Eni, and runs until August 14, 2023.BW Offshore has been in talks to divest the FPSO, which is operating at the Abo field offshore Nigeria, and is seen as non-core to its FPSO fleet. This extension is the latest in a series of short-term extensions announced for the Abo FPSO recently.The ABO FPSO started producing in April 2003.

Safe Concordia Flotel Stays with BP in Trinidad

BP Trinidad and Tobago has chartered the Safe Concordia offshore accommodation rig from Prosafe, to provide gangway-connected operations at Cassia C offshore platform in Trinidad. The contract will last around 160 days and will be a straight continuation of Safe Concordia's current engagement at Cassia C. The new contract will run from March 24, 2022, to August 31, 2022. Eni Extends BW Offshore's Abo FPSO

Italian oil company Eni has extended its contract for BW Offshore's Abo floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for another year.The FPSO's owner BW Offshore said Thursday it has signed the extension with Eni's subsidiary Nigerian Agip Exploration.Under the extension, the FPSO, used for production from the Abo field offshore Nigeria, will remain on the contract until the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, with options until the second quarter of 2023. Prosafe Misses Payment to Cosco

The largest and most versatile fleet of semi-submersible accommodation vessels in operation worldwide Prosafe SE has missed its final payment to China’s Cosco shipyard for the Safe Notos flotel.Offshore accommodation specialist  informed last November that it had re-evaluated its outlook and revised its forecasts resulting in a $341 million write down of assets and consequently a marginalized book equity amid a prolonged downturn and weaker outlook in the North Sea.Prosafe further informed that although the company had sufficient liquidity until early 2021, it would in light of the market outlook commence discussions with its lenders with a view to ensure sufficient financial flexibility for the longer term.The discussions with its lenders are ongoing and constructive.

Norway Rejects Prosafe-Floatel Merger

The Norwegian Competition Authority has rejected the proposed merger between Scandinavian offshore accommodation/construction support providers Prosafe and Floatel.Oslo-listed accommodation services player Prosafe in a press release said that it will study the decision in detail, and expects to decide on whether to appeal shortly and within the deadline within three weeks.The company owns and operates semi-submersible accommodation vessels operating at present in the North Sea region and off Latin America.Last month the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority raised similar concerns that it could drive up prices to unsustainable levels…

Awilco Appoints New CEO

UK-based drilling contractor Awilco Drilling announced that tha appointment of  Jens Berge as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Berge will succeed Jon Oliver Bryce."The Board would like to thank Jon Oliver Bryce for his nine years as Awilco Drilling's CEO. Prosafe Emerges as Lowest Bidder in Brazil Offshore Tender

European owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels Prosafe has submitted the largest bid in two online auctions for the supply of safety and maintenance support vessels to Brazil."Prosafe has participated in an online auction for the supply of safety and maintenance support vessels to Brazil and on conclusion of the auction achieved first place commercial ranking," said a statement from the operator of offshore accommodating units known as flotels.The auction concluded on 23 January 2019 was related to a two batch public opportunity with each resulting contract being for a three year duration.With Prosafe being ranked first place in both batches, the client will nominate which batch the Safe Eurus will be allocated.

Prosafe Signs Pact with Cosco

Equinor Extends Prosafe Deal

Semi-submersible firm Prosafe said that it has been offered a month extension for the Safe Boreas charter contract at the Mariner project by operator Equinor."Equinor UK Limited (formerly Statoil (UK) Limited) has exercised the first of six one-month options to extend the charter of the Safe Boreas. The total value of the option is USD 6 million," said a press statement.In early August 2017, the Safe Boreas commenced a 13 month firm operational period at Mariner in the UK sector of the North Sea. The firm operational period will now continue through to early October 2018.Prosafe is a leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels.

Aker BP Hires Prosafe Vessel

Prosafe has signed a contract with Aker BP ASA for the Safe Scandinavia to provide accommodation support at the Ula platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The firm duration of the contract commencing mid-August 2018 is seven months with eight one-month options. Total value of the contract excluding the option periods is approximately USD 25.5 million. The option periods, if exercised, have a total value of approximately USD 36.7 million. The contract will ensure employment of the Safe Scandinavia soon after expiry of her previous contract that concluded end-June 2018. Prosafe Extends Standstill Agreement with COSCO

Prosafe has extended a standstill agreement with COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore Co. Ltd in China for two harsh environment semi-submersible accommodation units, Safe Nova and Safe Vega.The standstill agreement has been extended until May 21, 2018 as Prosafe continues negotiations with COSCO and related parties for a workable commercial solution for the two units.A third unit, Safe Eurus, is in a preserved, strategic stacking mode and negotiations continue with COSCO to find a workable commercial solution.If no agreement is reached, Prosafe has the right to claim cancellation of the newbuild contracts due to delay, and claim repayment of the instalments paid including interest of approximately $60 million in total…

Wärtsilä, Prosafe Ink Flotels Maintenance Deal

Wärtsilä, a global leader in complete lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets, has signed a long-term maintenance agreement with Prosafe, the world's leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels also known as flotels. The 10-year agreement was signed in October 2015 and covers the diesel engines onboard Prosafe's new build flotel Safe Boreas. Maintenance agreements for Prosafe's three other new build flotels - Safe Notos, Safe Zephyrus and Safe Eurus - are expected to be signed later in 2016. Flotels will be delivered in 2015-2016. The scope of the signed maintenance agreement is comprehensive. It includes all services from the supply of spare parts and maintenance work to fast online support and assistance for Prosafe's vessels.

Prosafe Taps Andresen as CEO

Semi-submersible accommodation vessels owner and operator Prosafe has made several changes to its management team. Jesper Kragh Andresen was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Stig H. Christiansen as Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Prosafe Management AS. Georgina Georgiou will continue as General Manager of the parent company Prosafe SE. From 2012 and until recently, Andresen was CEO in Axis Offshore. Prior to this he was President of Lauritzen Offshore and Managing Director of J. Lauritzen Singapore.

Prosafe Appoints Interim Chairman of the Board

Prosafe, owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels, informs that its Chairman, Harald Espedal, has notified the company that he will step down from his position as Chairman and Director of the Board “for work load reasons”. Prosafe’s board has accepted the resignation and appointed Glen O. Rødland as interim Chairman of the Board. Rødland, currently a senior partner at HitecVision, has 25 years experience in shipping, oil and gas and other industries, with extensive experience as an analyst and in corporate finance.

DNV GL Performs Offshore Drone Survey

Classification society DNV GL said its surveyors have carried the group’s first offshore drone survey on the semisubmersible vessel Safe Scandinavia in the North Sea. The 25,383 GT tender support vessel (TSV) Safe Scandinavia is owned and operated by Prosafe, supporting Statoil’s drilling operations off the coast of Norway. Using camera-equipped drones, DNV GL’s drone pilots checked the TSV’s fairleads and their connection with the vessel’s two columns as part of the intermediate survey.

Prosafe Signs First Contract for Safe Notos

Owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels Prosafe announced it has signed a contract with an undisclosed client for the provision of an accommodation vessel in the U.K. sector of the North Sea.   The contract firm period commitment is over eight months and will involve an initial short period using the Safe Zephyrus commencing in the second quarter of 2016, to be replaced with the Safe Notos on arrival into the North Sea. In addition, Prosafe has granted four one-month options.   Total value of the contract for the firm period is approximately $60 million.

Lundin Norway Exercises Safe Boreas Option

Semi-submersible accommodation vessel owner and operator Prosafe informs that Lundin Norway AS has exercised an option to prolong the provision of semi-submersible accommodation vessel Safe Boreas at the Edvard Grieg Project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.   The one-month option extends on site operations through mid-December 2015 and has a total value of approximately $10 million. In addition, Lundin has a further one-month option.

Prosafe announced it has signed a contract worth approximately $24 million with Shell U.K. Limited for the provision of the Regalia semi-submersible accommodation vessel at the Brent C platform in the U.K. sector of the North Sea. The short duration contract commencing in the second quarter of 2016 will provide dynamically positioned (NMD3) gangway connection for the duration of the project. The contract award follows the Regalia recently completing an assignment for Shell at the Shearwater platform. The Singapore-flagged Regalia was built in 1985 at GVA Sweden to an enhanced GVA 3000 design.

Prosafe Crew to Train Using a New Lifeboat Simulator

Virtual Marine Technology said it has delivered a second lifeboat simulator system to Prosafe. The simulator was custom built for training lifeboat coxswains onboard the Safe Zephyrus, one of Prosafe’s newest accommodation rigs. The Safe Zephyrus was constructed at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore. The vessel complies with Norwegian regulations and is capable of operating in the harshest environments and with the highest standards of safety. It can accommodate up to 450 people in single person cabins.
