Prysmian Adds Barbarossa I Cable Layer to Its Fleet. Wins IMR Work in France

Italian subsea cable firm Prysmian Group said Thursday it has added a new vessel - Barbarossa I - to its fleet."After the debut of the state-of-the-art 170-meter Leonardo da Vinci [vessel] in August 2021, Prysmian Group’s fleet would seem to be complete. But with the addition of Barbarossa I, Prysmian Group becomes the first company in the sector that can provide the full range of submarine cable-laying solutions from the shallowest coastal waters in Northern Europe to the profoundest depths of the Mediterranean Sea.

Miros Extends Services to Prysmian Advanced Cable Lay Vessel

Prysmian Extends Solstad CSV Normand Pacific

Solstad Offshore ASA announced that Prysmian Powerlink Srl has exercised its option to extend the firm contract for construction support vessel (CSV) Normand Pacific with one year.The firm period will expire on December 31, 2022, Solstad Offshore said, adding that Prysmian has the option to extend the contract with two years beyond the firm period.The 122.4-meter-long Normand Pacific has been on charter with Prysmian since August 2016. The ST 257 L CD design vessel was built in 2010.

UK-Denmark Subsea Power Cable Gig Awarded

The Italian electric power transmission specialists Prysmian, German multinational conglomerate Siemens and Swedish cable manufacturer have secured contracts worth a total 1.1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) to build the world’s longest subsea power cable, the Viking Link between Britain and Denmark.National Grid and Energinet have recently announced that these cable and converter station suppliers are chosen for the UK’s first ever subsea electricity inter-connector to Denmark.The 1.4 GW high voltage direct current inter-connector, which will be the longest in the world when completed, will stretch 768 kilometers from Lincolnshire to Western Denmark.The project will consist of two parallel HVDC cables which will be manufactured and installed by Prysmian Powerlink S.r.l.
